Post So Nissan has the 350Z/Skyline/GT-R/Altima coupe and Toyota has the Solara

VS

for interest, add this....

Now the Z has been out since what 2002/2003. Its 2008. And yes, there will be a Subieyota in 2011 but thats in 2011.

I have to tip my hat off to Nissan and again, at Toyota for basically making LEXUS their sportiest brand/offering. Who would have thunk that????

So out of interest, I went to the Toyota website and I its amazing they sell so many cars, with nothing of interest to me. Great family sedans, Vans, SUVs, Trucks. No Celica, no MR2, no Supra, nothing.

http://www.toyota.com/upgrade-flash.html

Mitsu has the EVO and Eclipse.
Subie the WRX
Honda the S2000, Civic Si, Accord coupe

Am I missing something here?

I agree, when I was planning on purchasing a new car last year Toyota was the only manufacturer I didn't consider (except Lexus). Nissan, Honda and even Mitsubishi and Mazda has something to offer that gets my attention and give you the taste of sportiness but Toyota, the best selling car manufacturer in the world, had nothing to offer me. They must still be doing osmething right to be on top though but I can't wait when they decide to bring the Celica and Supra back.

No the Land Cruiser is pretty ballsy. No other car has offroad credentials like the LC. The RAV4 and Highlander... not so much. Plus the LC has been there since the beginning. I'm just naming cars that came along right around the demise of the MR2, Celica, Supra.

Toyota cares far too much about sales and profits. Their image is one word "boring" anyway, so why bother?

From what my parts guys say at the local Toyota dealerships, although the Solara isn't a hot item in our eyes, they can't keep them on the dealership floor very long.

Comparatively, Sequoia SUVs haven't been selling very well and the FJ sales have dwindled too. There was a 71,000 dollar Land Cruiser sitting there and while we were looking at it, we actually found a few paint flaws.

Did you get that guys? A SEVENTY-ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR TOYOTA...

Um. more than an LS460.

Another thing I noticed is that there is just WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much orange peel in these new Toyota cars.

I agree Mike w/this thread 100%. The IS-F is only 1 car whereas the other manufacturers have 3+ cars that are more sport oriented. Don't get me wrong our cars are sporty...especially the IS350 and IS-F but it's nothing like some of the coupes that others are putting out. Isn't the new Supra supposed to be coming out in a year or 2???

The Supra is a fable. Like the Loch Ness Monster, or Big Foot.

If you're going to add the Skyline (G37) than you should add the SC430.

Good point, I'll edit later.

Bottom line though, Nissan has 4, Toyota 1 and Toyota branches 1 each.

Gotta call a spade a spade here and it is beyond disapointing to see such a drab lineup. To think they race in F-1 (improving but way behind Ferrari).

The IS-F is the most tested car they have ever made, it shows IF THEY WANT TO, they can build something interesting. However what is scary is the car was not planned by Lexus, but a study by a rouge and brave engineer.

buy a GT-R and get a LS as a DD. you get the best of both worlds that way.

or you could buy a GT-R and M45X
