Out with the OLD - In with the NEW.... well, sort of :)
Old 05 S2000

I got a deal that I couldn’t pass. Basically I got the S2000 CR for the price of the regular S2000. The looks of this car is either you LOVE it or you HATE it. The color choices are white, black, blue or yellow. IMO, blue does not look good on the CR. white is just too bland. Black… well you know it’s a b!t(# to keep her clean. The Rio Yellow is similar to my old ITR except it is a metallic paint.
Here she is - 08 S2000 CR

I am just going to point out from what I remember the differences between the CR and my old S2000 and what I’ve noticed so far.
-Beside the obvious rear spoiler (some people call it the jumbo jet wing. At certain angle, it does look like a jumbo jet wing.
), however it’s reduces lift by as much as 79 percent. Visibility is a problem but not as much as the rear spoiler on my old ITR. -Front bumper spoiler lowers underbody pressure and reduces lift.
-Twin fairing behind the headrest also designed to reduce lift when hardtop is removed.
-Extra bracing spanning the well behind the seats for more body rigidity.
-The CR has VSA, Aluminum hardtop (ragtop eliminated), DRL, Tire Motinorting system, outside temp indicator, 4 extra speakers behind the seats.
-Similar to the ITR, the CR has Suede interior with matching yellow stitching, Unlike regular leather that slides you around when hard cornering, the material stick to you.
-Shorter throw shifter.
-Track tuned suspension with stiffer bushings, springs and dampers, larger anti-roll bars.
-Quicker steering ratio
-CR sits 0.5 inch lower
-Sticker Potenza tires, 255 vs 245 rear on the standard S2000.
-AC and radio removed (mine came with AC and radio as added option).
-Sound insulation and spare tire are now gone. I don’t remember the exact # but CR is approximately 99 lbs ligher than Standard s2000
-Sport tuned exhaust (there is no performance gain here, but it has very nice sound).
-the CR is harsh and sharper. It communicates every road imperfection without beating you up. Standard S has very little body roll but the CR has even less body roll.
-Very stable under high speed braking.
-Shifter is pure magic.
Some performance numbers from recent test
0-60 : 5.3s
0-1/4: 13.8 @100.8mph
60-0: 109 feet
Head to Head data with the Nismo 350Z

So far, I am pretty happy. Can't wait for the next track event

Sex on wheels.

I bet you like it as hell. Congrats.
But I thought I read that the CR version is a tiny bit slower than the previous model due to extra downforce on the front and rear, though the handling and cornering is highly increased! That's not the acceleration data I got when I read it in car&driver as they generally do good in getting good numbers. Insight plz?

Ya know..... I might just pick up one of these on Oct. this year! The price is dead on, exactly my budget. This thing is made in Japan too.

5.3s to 60
13.8s @ 100.8 to 1/4
.99g lateral acceleration
Standard S2000 runs low 14s or 14s flat in a 1/4 but as you know, it is not a straight line machine. However, 13.8s is respectable for a 4 cyl with no tq.

Yes, but why would I want to do that? with that big old wing in the back, without the front spoiler, this thing might take off.

Sure,, if you give me like 11s head start.

we took a 10 days road trip down Highway 1 from Northern to Southern California with my wife once. The way down was no problem because we stopped along the coast and stayed overnight. On the way back, we drove it in one shot and all I can say is that my wife will not ever go with me on a long trip in the car again.

I got the info from R&T recent comparison between the S2000 CR vs Nismo 350Z.
