So, i dunno if this has been posted yet but like there has been mad frenzy panic in the e90post, because BMW has been cracking down on mods. the reason why many ppl buy the 335 is because the n54 is very modifyableityness.
Well there's been many horror stories about BMW voiding power train warranty and flagging cars. BMW has also been discouraging tuning and mods, but just recently they released a new ECU in newer cars and a new update program for older cars to catch mods. Rumor has it they can detect and void your warranty without you even knowing, like you can run an ODBII test and it would come up clean, and then when you bring ur car in for oil change, they will secretly detect the tune and send it to BMWNA. Freaky. Many bimmer owners who had mods are reverting to stock. Tuners are panicking, and trying to make there engine tunes more invisible.
Honestly, its anarchy. People there are freaking out and rumors are flying. And me? Imma keep my bimmer mods. Im only keeping my e93 until the IS hardtop vert is out, so about 5 more years.
I would show links to e90post of horror stories, but im pretty sure thats not allowed.
OEMs have been trying to do that for years. Now technology has just made it easier for them to do. I used to revert my car to stock when I went it for my annual safety inspection. Any modes without a reconstruction in my city means you fail your inspection and can't register your car. Most of us use to just take the few hours to remove all visible mods or any questionable mod, get our inspections, then put it back on. Now with technology, the OEM's are catching up. Doesn't matter much anyway since most modders would wait for their warranty was up anyway before performing a large possible warranty voiding mod. At least I know I would.

makes sense though, if your engine blows and u had a dinan tune, you really think BMW is really gonna replace it for you since you got something that made your car stress more? not saying the tune does stress it more but if the tune did cause damage to the engine, why would BMW replace it when they left you a perfectly fine car from factory? sucks for them.

yeah i know, im not complaining about them voiding the warranty. I understand the complications you will get when you mod, infact everyone should before they mod. Im just saying, it was a lot easier and safer to mod the 335 until march 2008. And yes the vishnu procede tune will blow up ur turbos, its been proven. But i run JuiceBox.
so doesn't Dinan have a warranty through BMW or something for their ECU mods?
naw the relationship between dinan and bmw is falling to pieces, what ive heard. Dinan picks up wutever warranty BMW drops from your mod. You pay 2k, not for the ecu flash, but for the warranty and peace of mind.
