Exclamation 2010 RX Spied

Spied: 2010 Lexus RX SUV

Prototypes for the next-generation Lexus RX SUV have been spotted in Germany and this time the heavy camouflage that masked previous test cars is no longer present. The SUV’s distinctive profile can clearly be seen as can some of the details of the new head and taillights. The prototypes also reveal that the final design of the new RX will be heavily influenced by the lines of the LF-Xh hybrid SUV concept from last year’s Tokyo Motor Show.

Key features include the waterfall-style front grille and angular headlights plus a smoother overall shape than the current car. The new RX is also expected to be slightly larger than the current model, and there could be a new seven-seater model with three-row seating in the 2010 lineup.

The base model will retain the familiar 3.5L V6 engine but a new V8 model could also be added. The new range will also pick up a six-speed automatic as standard in place of the older model’s five-speeder. The hybrid model, due one year after the initial debut, will feature a V6 engine mated to an electric motor and is expected to develop close to 400hp (298kW).

Production of the new RX range will start at the end of year with first sales expected in the first quarter of 2009.

Has very similar lines to the old model. Looks good from this angle. Hopefully it doesn't have the funky looking front bumper though. The hybrid version sounds great. I wonder what it will cost though for that combined 400HP? Probably will touch the low $60K range.

I'm not sure I buy this. Thats 60 more HP than the GSh and its completely uneccessary IMO. I think with the Direct Injtected version of the 3.5L instead of the 3.3L the hybrid should make more than enough power (300ish) while being able to still offer exceptional fuel economy, perhaps better than it already does. We like our RX400h is the way it is now and its pretty quick. With these high gas prices I know that my mom and dad enjoy being able to get 27-29 Hwy MPGs since they travel so much.

Doesn't look a whole lot different, but you can definitely see the LF-Xh resemblance in the front, rear and side profile. Unfortunately it doesn't look like dual exhaust will be part of the car . Grille looks like a slightly larger version of that on the IS

Also looks like it will remain similar sized with two rows, despite what so many magazines and members here have speculated

Looking good I think.

A V8 and a 400hp Hybrid, I don't think both will be true

This looks like the last gen Nissan Murano.. Not bad at all.. Hopefully, this RX drives more stable than the current gen.

No. It will be redesigned.

But it will be minimal, like how the new Corolla doesn't look that different from the old one.

I can't wait to see the interior. Hopefully, it's fresh. Almost every other car company has copied the current design...

JW...what do you mean by that? I actually find the RX to be one of the more entertaining Lexuses to drive, as ironic as that sounds. Definitely has a lot more road feel than most everything else in their stable and corners and turns nicely. I really think the RX 350 is actually a pretty decent drive, especially for a SAV/CUV thing.

I am glad you like the RX ride, but I am literally terrified to drive our Ex-RX400 past 80mph, it's extremely unstable/soft, feels like I could take off any second

drive a BMW X5/Q7/Cayenne, you'll see what awesome handling is about, I think our x5 handles better than my GS, I could drive 100 mph without my hands on the steering wheel
