Danica, Duno spar on pit road
By MIKE HARRIS, AP Auto Racing Writer Jul 19, 7:13 pm EDT
LEXINGTON, Ohio (AP) – If Saturday is any indication, the Honda Indy 200 may be just more of the same struggles that Danica Patrick has faced so many times in the past three months.
Patrick, who started a career-best second here a year ago, was 11th in the morning practice at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
After getting out of her car, Patrick quickly walked to where Milka Duno, the only other woman racing here this weekend, was pitted and confronted the less experienced driver about getting in her way several times during the practice.
The confrontation lasted only about a minute, but witnesses said it grew heated and that Duno flung a towel in Patrick’s direction at one point as the two exchanged words. Patrick eventually walked away.
Patrick, who has previously confronted fellow drivers Dan Wheldon and Ryan Briscoe after racing incidents, brushed off the latest dustup, saying, “I just wanted to know if she saw me out there.”
Duno was not immediately available for comment.
Things didn’t get better for Patrick after the confrontation.
She failed to get past the first of three rounds in the knockout-style time trials and will start 20th on the 26-car grid in Sunday’s race. Duno qualified last.
“The car was pretty fast during practice this morning, but I was unable to find the speed that I needed during qualifying,” Patrick said. “I’m disappointed that I didn’t qualify better, knowing that I started on the front row last year.
“But there are some areas of the course where I will be able to make some passes. It’s a long race, so, hopefully, I can work my way up the field.”

Toyota driver Timo Glock escaped injury after a big crash during the German
He looked good for a points finish in his home race when his rear suspension broke entering the start-finish straight.
Glock's car spun across the track and slammed backwards into the pit wall, spreading debris on the circuit and bringing out the safety car.
An ambulance took the German to hospital, but his team confirmed he suffered no major ill-effects, saying: "Timo is fine and there are no physical signs of injury. He has been taken to a hospital for further precautionary checks."
Team principal Tadashi Yamashina added: "For us the priority is that Timo is okay.
"At the moment it is too early to determine exactly what the cause of the incident was but of course we are investigating. He was doing a strong race and was looking set for another points finish so it was a real pity."
Yamashina also went on to say that he expects Glock will be back behind the wheel for the Hungarian GP next month.
"We are extremely confident Timo will be fit for the Hungarian Grand Prix," he said.
"Naturally he's a bit shaken by the accident but all the checks have shown he is fine so we are not worried about that."

Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
There hasn't been any news on an IS F racecar since we heard rumors that the sedan, unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon, was really a reskinned 2004 Opel Vectra DTM. While Lexus might not be supporting a factory-backed motorsports program for the IS-F, that doesn't mean that privateer teams can't develop a car on their own. DRC Motorsports has done just that and has built two IS-F racecars that will compete in the GT class of the SPEED World Challenge. Dubbed the IS GTF, it will be sporting a 4.7-liter V8 putting out 510 horsepower and attached to six-speed sequential transmission. The first car will make its debut this weekend at Mid Ohio with Jeff Altenburg, last year's SWC Touring Car champion, behind the wheel, and the second car, driven by Robb Holland, is scheduled to make its maiden run the following race at Road America. Both cars are scheduled to run the remainder of the race season. If you want to watch the new IS GTF in action, SPEED will be airing the race on Thursday, July 24 at 1:00pm (EDT) following the Touring Car race.

I'm not a big Hamilton fan, but the last couple of laps during the F1 race were exciting too! Come on Ferrari... Let's get it together...
