Does anyone have info about some Super Autobac stores in the US? In March's Superstreet, it talks about one opening in Garden Grove this spring. Anyone have more info???

Sorry bro, I haven't heard back from Japan yet. It's currently "Golden Week" or something like that so dunno if the place is even open...

As for Autobacs, can't say...I'll get some others into trouble as only a handful of people know...it's within driving distance for me... :)

Manaray

Just got some new info on it...all I can say, it's in Southern California, within reasonable driving distance from all major LA/OC areas...as for what they're going to sell exactly, also can't say...don't bother asking me for more info cuz you ain't gonna get it out of me...

Last time I went to Japan, I was surprised to see Office Max or is it Office Depot.... Yeah, the Autobacs indeed look like a supermarket.... for cars!

Manaray, thanks for your time. Anyone that continues to bother manaray should be banned from club lexus for life! :D

Autobacs is located in Garden Grove. It is on Beach Blvd north of the 22 freeway. I believe it is opening this month and they are also hiring. I heard that a lot of carclubs will be cruising down there for the grand opening...

Ya I think there's one coming here.

I heard god will be there also.

Yeah it's right off the 22 and beach, just north of the freeway by the Red Robin.

We've been doing some consulting work for them setting up some of the stuff inside the store for the past few months, it's gonna be one crazy place when it's done and open!! It's really close to being done now so at least we don't have to wear hardhats anymore when going inside hahaha

They built the building from scratch, and the budget for that place is well into 8 figures...y'all gotta check it out when they open, should be pretty impressive!

Richie

What kind of car stuff will they be selling?

Isn't Autobacs supposed to hold an exhibition race for the JGTC in SoCal in 2004? I know they were planning on it. Does anyone have any more info? I'll be there for sure if they come.

Isn't this the place that's equivalent to the Costco/Walmart of perfomance car shops? If so I am very jealous of all of you in the mainland

yes, this place is opening up.
Not sure when the offical date is, but its opening late august..
They're having a ceremony at 1pm on the 28th

This place sales mostly japanese parts. You will see some rice parts, but its mostly offical japanese parts.. the only bad part about it is it will be overpriced.
you wont find cheap parts here tho..
in japan, they have thousand of these store, the regular autobacs are the size of pepboyz and autozone, but super autobacs is the size of walmart.
A friend went to japan for a month, and got tons of pictures from autobacs, great place.

ill post pictures of the place, they're on my computer at home..

I just hope this place opens the rice boy eyes and shows them all the right parts for their car. REAL parts.

Here's some pictures I took while we had a tour of the facilities on Aug. 3. Super Autobacs (http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289496659).

Subaru guys had a meeting at Autobacs with a courtesy tour - they invited me :D . Wasn't suppose to take pictures but did get some shots in and a couple of video clips. Really wanted to take a pic of all their Works wheel display --- japanese dude kept bugging me not to take pics:p .

Here are the videos Autobac HERE (http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289495685)

Oh...the autobacs pic has mixed pics of the tour/subara-mazda meet/and scion meet.

Oh yeah in your neck of the woods...you'll have to check it out when they open in a couple weeks!

I think the opening is Aug 25th and the Grand Opening is the 28th.

We just finished our portion of the work in the building today, most of the inventory is in there now, all of the equipment is there, it's just final details now, should be pretty nice!

What's so special about this type of store? How is it different from a Walmart?

howiedoit
08-13-03, 06:03 PM
look at the pictures from the link that was posted. it looks like this super autobacs will be quite similar to the ones that i've been to in japan. it's just a big store that sells aftermarket car parts including little accessories, strut bars, coilovers, exhaust systems, wheels and lots more...

Well I decided to drive by Super Autobacs today. That location used to be an Edwards Cinema so you can kinda visualize the size of it. Looks awesome :bigok:

GS4fun: Yea what howie said, full of aftermarket and JDM parts like you see in Japan. Wonder what the prices are gonna be like

For those of you that will say the same thing stuff is over priced. Thats how expensive the stuff is over here and then add the cost of shipping to U.S. . At least you all have a place to get the stuff you want instead of looking for a hook-up now.

I have looked up many of stuff for CL members and they all say the same thing "Cost To Much".

Lexus is not a cheap car to begin with and why put cheap stuff on you car. The quality of most of the stuff from Japan is top of the line.

If any of you thought the stuff was going to cost less then what they sell the stuff for here your mistaken.:egads:

It was a secret because my post is over a YEAR old. Back then, they didn't want that information to leak out...

Here's their address

Went there today around 11. Didn't see any SC's in the lot. Parking wasn't bad at that time then it was around noon. I talked to Rj from RO_JA and hung out in the sun til noon. Didn't know it was media day. Japanese men in suits and me in my summer wear  who knew? Anyway, you had to be from a company to get thru but I got in! Inside was heaven, especially the rims and suspension display area. Surprised that they had so many products. Like a one-stop shop for sure if you had $15k in your pocket. Price was slightly more than usual but nothing too outrageous IMO. Like {-.-** (Robert) said, you can get JDM parts on-hand w/out tryin to find it online then shipped overseas. I'm just excited it's here, and near me!

France, and I think at least 2 other countries...there are over 500 stores total worldwide.

The big big one in Japan even has a movie theater in it!!!

i just got back, it wasnt all that great.
the size of the store is like twice the size of pepboys.
They shouldnt call it super autobacs. it should be called: autobacs.
In japan, super autobacs is the size of walmart, and sells used parts.
When i walked in, they said no camera =\
the prices are like 10%-30% more then what i can get.
They have mostly honda/acura parts in stock. We asked them for some parts for a friend's s13, but they said, try back in a few weeks haha.

I call it RipOffBacs.

Swifty
08-30-03, 10:40 PM
I think the regular Autobacs sells the used parts. Prices are within reason, with the exception of performance parts (exact MSRP). The problem is everyone is used to dealing with *****d out pricing. It's not that Super Autobacs is a ripoff, they are selling at what market price should be.

I was impressed with the store, they have A LOT of parts & product lines in one place. I dont mind to pay a little bit more to save me time from driving 30mins to another store with a part i'm looking for.

Checked it out today and was pretty disappointed:( They have great pricing on Work wheels (20 inch staggered Euroline LS for less than $3000, 20 inch Euroline LS chrome staggered for around $3000 also!!!) I would say it's not for Lexus/VIP shopping, it's more of a ricer store (i guess the ricy style is too popular here in the state due to the FAST & FURIOUS influence.) The other items' prices are at retail prices. Like say ALPINE IVA-D900 for $2300+tax+installation which I can get the same item installed out of the door for $1500.
But the restroom down there is pretty clean:thumbup:

The store is okay. Lots of goodies and is well set-up but the prices don't do anything to open my wallet. If you are a Honda, Acura, WRX and that mainstream group, it has lots for you to drool over.

Just went there today with "white98aristo" and we picked up a few Junction Produce catalogs. They have alot of stuff and Expensive price, but the quality is there except for the altezza tailights section.:D
