I thought the general impression is that most Lexus models are catered to older people. So far the results suggest the opposite. Or is it that older guys don't visit Club Lexus?

ltauamkau, I believe the latter part of what you said is more true for CL than anything. I think It would be great to have more older members.

Perhaps the older members don't participate in polls...

Lexus are greared to the older crowd. Younger crowds are attracted to Forums / Internet. That's why you see a majority of the younger group on this site.

I see a lot of middle-aged or older that drive Lexus in my area especially RX, LS. The result here shows a younger crowd. I think there are more younger drivers that visit this forum.

From a 36 year old... I don't think its that older drivers don't know how to use a computer. I think it's a combination of two things:

1) Not many older folks are into surfing the internet. In my observation, they go online to look for specific information but not as much browsing. Big culture change here.

2) Not as many older drivers are into modifying their Lexus. I'd wager that many of those that are (I'd count myself in this category of older relative to most here) including me were into musclecars at some point.

Certainly many folks that didn't grow up with a high speed internet cable in their crib are less comfortable with the technology... guess my point is I wouldn't go as far to classify them is not knowing how. Most can choose to learn how to.. and do.

Let me represent a bit for the midwest here....the age demographic is simple.....Lexus owners generally do not use forums. I think that CL members represent a minority of all Lexus owners...for now! When I drive around Miniapp here I never see a modified Lex. Ok, I saw one with tinted windows ONCE. I take a quick note of the driver when I see a Lex, and they are almost always middle aged women or men. This balances out the average Lexus drivers age a bit.

I turned 39 in April, been using computer since Apple first came out with the IIe and Commodore made the 64. I use computers every day at home and at work.

But!!!!! (there is always a but) with age comes the knowledge of how to form a proper sentence.

Dave’s pretty much right on. At 66, I’m one of the oldest here (if not THE oldest?). Although my computer background dates back to plug-boards, paper tape, and punch cards. I do admit that most of my generation don’t fully use their computers (if they have one) and probably won’t go searching for forums about their cars. For most people, a car is just a car (poor misguided heathens).

But in my case, I don’t participate in any other forums. And the reason I do occasionally post on CL supports Dave again – I’ve been a gear-head ever since swapping out a wood-fired boiler for a coal-fired one and turning a 35 sec. / 30 mph quarter.

I’ll bet that if you could conduct a survey of ALL Lexus owners, you’d find that most had no idea that there was a forum on the internet devoted to everything Lexus. Most of the geezers wouldn’t participate, but I’ll bet you’d find thousands of middle-aged owners that would be here in a heartbeat. Most for detailing tips, some for mechanical help and a small group for modding tips.

Of course, as we all know, the mod bug would soon attack the poor defenseless fossils and instead of Viagra, Fixodent, and Depends, they’ll soon be talking intakes, exhausts and torque converters.

23 years of age here. Been driving a Lexus Since late 1995. My mother's was the first I drove. A Beautiful 1992 Dark Emerald Pearl ES300 with tan leather fully loaded. Such a nice car. She just traded it in finally for a 99 SC300 silver on black leather I love driving that too!

Yea, I was headed into the garage to get in the GS to go to the meet, but once I made it to the car I forgot where I was headed. Went back in and sat in the Lazyboy and took a nap.LOL

I was going to attend, but the wife made other plans for me at the last minute. I will be at the next one, and will probably be a couple hours early to avoid a repeat scenario.

Sounds like everyone had a good time. I wish I had been able to make it!!! Next Time!!!

I am in Japan this week on some Government business. There are a lot of ARISTOS OSAKA and HIROSHIMA.

I'll post again once I get back home at the end of the week. The trip was so short-fused, I didn't have time to plan for a mini vacation while over here. Maybe next time.

Anyway, I'm 46, but car enthusiasm doesn't change with age. And I live in Miami, but I wasn't at the meet because I don't have the new rims, L-tuned sideskirts, L-tuned exhaust and Ingen Intake yet. I'm holding off for a few more weeks until I see the new GS. If I can't live without it, I'll trade instead of spending the extra 5K on mods. (There are a few advantages that come with age. ;)

I think you are in fact in the wrong profession. Me too! I'm back to school and I get the same question everyday in the parking space. One day the old lady in school said: " It is so ridiculous, how come that your dad let you drive his Lexus?" I was caught off guard and I responded: " I am also a dad!" Just a young dad.:) I know most of my classmates think I'm a stripper ( lol) because I look too young to drive a GS. LOL...Just let them wonder! When I drive my LS, I also noticed some old people in their LS or Cadillac in the freeway are staring at me so I have to tint the car darker.

My neighboor asked me why I still go to school . I answered that I have nowhere to go and I have to drive my car each day or else the engine will get rusty! :D :D :D

I think the majority of us youngins are driving used Lexi, I'm sure there are exceptions though.

Surprised to see so many young owners. I thought the mean would be closer to 35~40...I'm 41. I guess the youngsters here grew up with good taste in cars. Or did your wives/girlfriends really pick out the car. My oldest daughter (17) sure had her eye on mine and said I could be the "pimp'n" dad...whatever that means. She's wanting to tradein her prelude for the IS3.

Anyway, one of my classmate is driving a nineteen-forgoten Lexus coupe ( SC300 ). I started talking to her but she was such a snob and stack up. Well, every day I started using different Lexus and she asked me if I work for the dealership, duh! LOL. She said that her dad is working in the service department changing oil. I responded that maybe I'm your dad's boss. She is real pretty and no longer a snob.

Buick and Cadillac cater to older people. Youngsters buy Lexus and BMW (or their parents buy for them, though the youn'uns would never own up to that.)

Or it could be skewed because that demographic and others in close relation to that age are the most active internet users.

I was 30 when I bought my first new 94 ES300. I thought I was to young for that type of vehicle.

Not really. I feel very happy exactly where I am. I bought my '98 GS400 two years ago when I was 38. My first Lexus and damn proud of it! I have 3 kids, a wife, her car and our house to pay for and yet I still find myself on CL every day trying to discover the next mod for my sweet Lex. :uh:

I am very happy for all of you kids buying your very own Lexus vehicles. I have never in my life heard of an 18 year old saving up enough money to purchase a $35,000 car......... That is AMAZING. What kind of job do you have?

seriously planning on trading my camry for a used LS 430 01-03 model years. i'll be 19 when i do (18 till january 10) yall think im to young to own a LS? mom thinks so

I've had my RX since the summer and i love it. I plan on trading it in for an IS350 probably after my bday...hopefully.

I'm currently 17 yrs old turning 18 next yr in July. I'm waiting till my IS 350 comes within 4 to 5 months and I'm paying all by myself (I know wow!) I'm currenlty driving my (was my dad's till he bought himself some porsche) 04' Hummer H2 SUV loving this truck! All pimped out in black with tons of aftermarket accessories!

I'm 19 now going on to my second car. First a 2001 Honda Accord V6 EX coupe and moving up to the 2000 GS400 In SMB. I gotta go get the car on Wednesday. Can't wait.

its been a few years since this poll was started, i bet a few people have moved out of their voting range up into the next catagory. Im 18 and we have had the LX well, i guess since i was 12 and at 16 it became mine. We got a LS430 in nov of 04 as a 05 model which was when i was 17. We got our porsche when i was like 4 or 5 and i drive it now too. Mostly everyone in my area has a family of some sort that owns a lexus here. There are several exceptions to that with the IS300 crowd being younger people but with the New IS coming out i see more "older" people purchasing them. As far as a LS and LX tho i believe im the only 18 year old, or at least one of the very few with keys to both on his keychain in my town.
