Lawrence Lexus is horrible. They are so ignorant there. I had to get my lower grille replaced and when i went to pick it up there was the SUV sitting behind it. So i went outside waiting for the kid to pull it out of the parking spot so i could leave. Well the kid driving the car didnt know how to drive. He tried to get around the SUV (by the way there was the curb next to me and another car on the other side) he stalled twice, scratched up the bottom of my bumper of which they just replaced. it wasnt bad but come on just move the SUV dont try to pull this awesome move and mess up. sorry for the story, it just makes me mad

Lexus of Mobile ZERO Long story!
SC400, 100,000 mile service did not change air filter or fuel filter or gas cap gasket. Charged me for a battery tie down that they did not install. Charged me over 2000 bucks and did not do the basics as described on their menu of services. They admitted it, and GM and owner gave me most of my money back. They fired the service manager and my service advisor (or at least that is what they told me, I dont know?)

Huntsville Lexus 9
Chattanooga Lexus 8

Lexus of New Orleans gets about a 2. Sales and service is absolutely horrible. It's a shame because they have such a nice Parts Dept. and parts staff(thanks Ron W. and others). First off, my "service advisor" is a total b___h. It took them two seperate trips to figure out that my car had a bad alternator. Then, I told her I didn't have the time for them to put a new alternator in at the time when they finally figured out what was wrong(I was going to go back, but not with the attitude she developed on my way out), and she turned into mega b___h. She practically threw the keys(a switchblade(non OEM Lexus) key that pissed her off from the start for some reason. She made some rude comment about it when I gave it to her) at me on my way out of the door. The Toyota dealer where I regulary have the ES serviced(Bohn Brothers Toyota) treats be worlds better than this she-devil(I won't say her name directly, but she's the only female service writer there.). They greet me at the door, and they are always pleasent to deal with. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I'm still holding this incident against her. I'm there to have her treat me like crap. I'm there for them to treat me like gold(with the prices we pay, I should) even if I am only a kid and to fix my car which they should be experts at since they charge $100+ an hour for labor.

As for their sales dept., I wanted to look at some of their used LS400's, but the place is in such disarray I could not find a sales rep much less the used car office to seek help(closed down and boarded up office...pretty tacky at a Lexus dealer). Oh well, their loss. I think that when I buy a Lexus from a dealer I'll drive to Baton Rouge and go to Price LeBlanc Lexus because Lexus of New Orleans is TERRIBLE. No wonder they've only gotten "Elite of Lexus" ONE TIME!!!! To bad I can't get Lex of N.O. to read this.

Pohanka Lexus gets about a 7 overall...nice people and generally good service. The only reason they don't get a 9 or 10 is that they do NOT allow customers to wash their own cars.....they insist on either doing it themselves or waiving the service........and I find that very, VERY annoying. I won't use commercial car washes, (for several reasons) and NOBODY touches my paint except me.

Since we're getting so many comments in this thread about Lexus service, keep one thing in mind., people.....as long as no Lexus warranty work is involved, you can often get the same service (and with the same Toyota/ Lexus filters) at a Toyota service department for about half the price. Some Toyota shops actually employ Lexus-trained technicians....they know that Lexus owners are coming to them and are prepared for it.

Meade Lexus, Southfield....8 to 9...food, drinks..service..no problems..but they are expensive!
Meade Lexus, Lakeside....8 to 9 blah, blah, blah....same owners!
Lexus of Lansing 9 to 10...worth the drive service is 1/3 the hourly price...not as much food, drinks...no problems...and the best deal...and they always hook me up because i drive 50 miles away to come there...was part of www.parts.com and give me a 20% off of their already low rate...

I think Pohanka deserves better than a 7. Their staff is willing to do whatever it takes to accomodate you during service. All of their service advisors are more than courteous and go out of their way to make your service visit top notch. Their waiting area is always very clean and staff members constantly restock drinks and snacks and clean up. Pohanka usually designates the porters to do the cleaning and restocking of the lounge, but last time I was there I noticed a customer service employee walking through the lounge and she went out of her way to clean up some trash that a customer had just left on the counter. Yes, their prices are a little expensive, but I truly believe that you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Paying the extra money is worth it to me for the piece of mind I get at Pohanka Lexus. And, even if something isn't covered under warranty, or your car is out of warranty...........if you maintain your vehicle at Pohanka they will always try to give you a break on cost of repairs. As for the car wash, I do think that it needs improvement..........and it would be nice if they let customers wash their cars, but I also think that its possible that they don't allow this for liability concerns. All in all, Pohanka gets a 10 from me!

Well...note what I said in my post. I agree with you that the service guys are pretty nice. I would have given them a 9 or a 10 just like you if they didn't have such a bulls - - - policy about car washing....and that is the General Manager's policy, not the service dept's.
You are correct that the wash policy is for what they CALL liability reasons.....but I was washing and detailing cars when most of those guys in the wash bin were in diapers...literally. There is no NEED for a liability restriction like this....it is bulls - - -. And when I was a Saturn owner I washed my own car every time it came to the Saturn shop for service...they never gave me any arguements.

You annoy your customers.....you pay the price. :nono: So...from me they get a 7 instead of a 9 or 10. It's that simple, and not something I'm going to argue about. You rate them as you see fit...and so will I.

BTW...I usually either do minor stuff myself or take it to a local Toyota shop where they do the same service at half of the Lexus price.

Ok its like this, I bought my car about 3 weeks ago (1998 gs400) and as usual it came with only one key. I quickly found out that if it broke or got lost I would get raped to get a new key so i ran to Fresno lexus. When I walked up to the dealership they were so polite and nice, I was like this will go well. Then I asked where the parts department was :uh: . He told me I had to go next door to Fresno dodge for service and parts. :eek2: I have had exsperience with fresno dodge and let say I cant tell you how I feel about them and not get this post erased. The salesman knew I was not happy by the look on my face. Well I had to do what I had to do to get my key. I walked into fresno dodge and met the most obnotious, rude guy who I aparently was bothering by asking him to do his job, And told him I needed to order a new key for my lexus, and the customer sevice just continued to get worse. He the proceded to give me a hard time because I did not have a dmv registration paper saying I was the owner, all i had was the dmv tag that goes in the window when you buy a used car with all the vital info. (aka temporary registration card) He was still giving me crap about it so i busted out the official loan papers to prove I bought the car. He takes them and procedes to read all my loan papers to wich I grabed from his hands  and handed him the front page and told him that all the info was all he needed to concern himself with and to order the damn key or go get your manager. So he went ahead and started to type into the computer for ever (he wasnt all that bright either) untill he fiqured it out. Then I had to walk to the other room to pay. And there was a lady that was nice. She was talking to me and tald me that she normally didnt work there @ dodge, they just needed somebody to fill in for the day and she normally works in the office at lexus.
Now there the sevice department. Ive been calling and leaving messages (cause I guess they dont know how to answer the phone when it rings) for a week and a half. my car is at 59600 miles and I need to do the 60000 service. I still have not recieved a call back. Do i really need to drive to modesto (aprox 3 hrs away) to get my car serviced? :egads:
Thats my story and Im sticking to it.

My take on Lexus service dept.:

:thumbdn: Rallye Lexus in Glen Cove, NY gets a 2 from me for being a "Little Richard." My RX300 was delivered with serious alignment problem. They gave me the runaround and claimed two tires were low - BS. Overfilled crankcase with oil, too. Don't bring your Lexus there even at gunpoint. With the way they work on cars, they'll turn Lexus quality into Ford quality in no time.

 Kuni Lexus in Littleton, CO gets an 8 from me for doing just about everything right. I don't give them a 10 because their tech routinely over-torque my lug nuts - like 150 ft/lbs or so. The spec is 76 ft/lbs and I had to re-torque everytime they touched my wheels. Also $92 for the 5K service is outrageous even by luxury car standard.

The dealerships in NJ are just terrible when it comes to service.
They're all great with sales but their service depts make it sound as if they're doing the owner a favor by fixing the problems even when the car is under factory warranty.

The bottom line is, the service depts can only be as good as the people operating it.

Lexus of San Antonio - 4 Stars.

My family never experienced such great Texas hospitality. They listened to every one of my needs...got the car out faster than I expected...and they paid attention to every last detail. I consider Mike, my service representative, like a cousin to me.

When I encountered any sort of problem here in Mexico...they always talked me through solutions over the phone.

Nobody likes to bring in a car for service, but this is one place I will always be happy to bring my RX to, even if nothing is wrong. :)

I vote the Toyota dealership I work for as the best because I know they do and will give me the best service and care, we dont sell new Lexus's YET just used or trade-ins.

I'm moving from Columbus, OH to Springfield, VA in a month or two and am flabbergasted that Northern VA has only TWO Lexus dealerships. Lindsey (Alexandria-11 miles) and Pohanka (Chantilly-15 miles). Columbus has two dealerships and it is a LOT smaller than the Metro DC area.

Anyway, any recommendations as to which deslership I should entrust my 03 LS430 and my 01 RX300? The mileage is virtually the same (although it may be faster to Chantilly than to Alexandria via 395).

TIA

Lexus of Tampa Bay is ALRIGHT. And i stress alright. It seems that they are becoming a little too snobbish for my tastes. Also, everytime i take it there, they tell me something that is going to cost $1000 is wrong with the car. I used to be a mechanic for VW's so i know the game they play. Plus i can do just about any work my self, so if I DO have to do something, I can buy the parts, and do it in my garage. The service people are good, but they arent as up front as I would like them to be. They seem like they are hiding something from you all the time. I just have been getting a strange feeling the last few times I've been there... :uh:

Clearwater Lexus has really impressed me. It's pricey these days to get work done at any shop, but Lexus stands by their work and use genuin Lexus parts. They always give me a loaner car..RX, LS and IS I've driven as a loaner for the day or overnight. Once they didn't have a Lexus for me so I drove off in a new Malibu. I was not pleased at all with the car but didn't say anything, it's a really crappy car BTW. The next day I called to check on my car and it was not yet ready, They asked if was happy with the Malibu and I stated I missed having a Lexus to drive. So they said come back and they gave me a new LS to drive until my car was done. I loved them for that. :D Way to go Clearwater Lexus.

I'm also satisfied with AutoFair Lexus in Manchester, NH. Great staff, but I didn't get Lexus loaners for some reason.

any work I will get done now will be from private shops. I dont mind paying the money but I expect professionalism from the shop who does it and competency.

I've had nothing but good experiences at Scottsdale Lexus, they always have loaners no matter what you come in for, even a simple oil change. This is great when you want to do an oil change and can't wait, just drop it off, get the loaner (usually an RX or ES, if you come late they give you a rental but no charge), go to work and pick it up when you get off work. I saw some poor guy on another thread say his dealer told him there was a week wait for a loaner! All around excellent service every time I've been there.

I completely hate Meade Lexus of Lakeside, in Shelby Twp. MI.

From what I noticed, the people in the service office will suck your **** if you appear older and have a nicer car. When I walked in (17 year old) and mentioned a 91 LS400, the completely put me on the back burner. I had to stay standing waiting for like 15 minutes while there were 2 other guys on the phone that didn't even tell me to take a seat in their little offices or anything. The guy that I finally talked to was rude to me and I don't think I got the same treatment as the older woman before me that had a new GS in for service.

(Also the guy was a dumbass... he had to ask me if the LS400 was front or rear wheel drive. What a moron.)

I mean, if I'm going to pay outta the ass for service, I want those guys to basically suck me off when I go there. Otherwise, I do all the work to the car myself... the Lexus dealer can screw themselves. :thumbdn:

my husband was a toyota tech for quite some time, and is debating now whether to continue in the field or go to something related. i can tell you a lot about service departments. a lot of the crap service you'll get is because of flat rate pay scales. these guys work 100% on commission. plus there are the dedicated pros who really care about doing their job right (rare) vs the guys in it for the money who stonewall anyone who complains about the work they busted in and out the door in half the flat rate time.

it's all about who's under your hood and who's in charge of telling him what to do. management is important too, of course.
