Lvan,

:)

I actually have 7 monitors, but only those 4 running off the main computer. The other are on the rack behind the Left Side LCDs. Trying to sell some of them and just get 5 black ones like the two on the desk.

My setup isn't nearly as crazy as pcmw's ! Running off my primary desktop machine I've got a 19" ViewSonic LCD and a smaller 15" ViewSonic LCD.

Both are configured at 1024 x 768 right now; I don't have them setup as a split desktop, I just drag stuff back and forth between the two.

the question "Why?" comes to mind. Do you REALLY need all those monitors?

I think I have pcmw beat :) I have 9 computers (7 desktops and 2 laptop) all at home, I have one 15" flat panel and the other 4 are CRT's So I have 5 monitors with a few on a switch box. Right now I am not using them all because I have been packing getting rdy to move so once I find a house I will be that much closer to moving in, but when I get the stuff set back up I will take a picture... Most of the computers are all with in reaching distance of me from my computer chair...

We funnel the Compaq 4-way box, the two Sun UltraSparcs and two PC's through a single Sun 21 " monitor via a switchbox.

You have ME BEAT??? :) Good luck with that. I also have two 120" front projections running at 1280x1024. The real trick is that all of my monitors run off a single computer, then each monitor is then dual input supported to another computer. So when they are all on one computer, I can drag one window across the entire gamet of displays. If you notice the pic in my first post, the four displays are showing my single email list.

Do I use them all, all the time....nope... mostly just the 4 on my desk. But it comes in handy...

I just upgraded to a 17" LCD. It's running at 1280x1024. What an improvement over a CRT! :D

damn, some of you guys got MY dream set up!:p

anyway, as for me, i use my laptop most of the time. (one 16.1 inch LCD at 1280 X 1024 resolution).

from time to time, i would plug an external monitor to my laptop to add real estate space.

IMHO, although size matters, more the better.

why does someone need multiple monitors someone asked?

well, for applications such as photoshop and macromedia flash, they have a ton of tool bars and windows. all these small windows can be easier accessed on a second monitor while you work on your main project in full view on the main monitor.

more the better? yeah! think of it this way...

1. display your main work/porject
2. tool bars
3. program launcher/start menu.
4. messengers (one of each messenger?)
5. web surfing.
6. second web surfing (to cross reference with first).

hehe, anyway, for a while i was using just two monitors at work until i got my laptop. i miss having dual monitors full time. it takes a lot more managing, dragging, minimizing, maximizing when i only have one display.

yeah, i am just bored at work right now trying to kill some time before i get off.

anyway, PCMW, you got some nice stuff. i especially love the 120" projection. one of these days, i am going to get one.

At work, everyone has dual LCD setup with Linux. And then an extra PC laptop.

As a programmer, more screen real estate = better :D
