This thread is for those with mods! Have you been pulled over for a mod and did you get out of it and how or did you get a fix it ticket? What are the laws on intakes and exhaust or even lowering? Thanks guys its always good to know just incase.
That's because most other things in most places are illegal, however not offences sever enough to justify pulling you over about.
In Alabama, in general you can get away with anything so long as you're not breaking all the big laws.
Blue lights in markers are illegal; however you're not going to get pulled over for that alone.
Same for seat belts. Illegal to not wear them, however you wont get pulled over if rear occupants don't have them on. Same for light in rain. You wont get pulled over for not having your lights on if your windshield wipeers are on.
All of those however will automatically get tacked on if you do get pulled over.
I would say plates and extremely dark tint during the day time.
Extremely loud stereos will also get ya pulled over.
The October issue of Sport Compact Car has a 50 state summary of what's legal regarding plates, tint, suspension and ride height, and lights. Plus the local/state web sites for additional info.
The front plate is a big one for getting pulled over because it directly affects camera based enforcement. It's not about safety or common sense, it's all about the $$$.
Got pulled in GA for window tint. Trooper was nice & professional, probably let me go because I was from TX and just passing thru. He let me know that it's too dark for GA, but since he didn't know what it was in TX, then just get it checked sometime. I did have the DS & PS windows retinted, was planning to do it anyway. I couldn't see crap at nite.
Cops work like any other person in rules enforcement. Some don't care, some do. Some don't want to get out of the car when it's raining, do a bunch of paperwork ,blah blah...
These are generally the veteran cops. the rookies are all gung ho and ready to write you up for anything... even bald tires
It's more about WHO pulls you over than it is WHERE you get pulled over. certain people in respect to rules enforcement are more lenient than others.
While following this girl to a gas station to get some drinks to bring home I got pulled over by an undercover cop(was driving a Ford Contour 100% unmarked). He pulled me over for allegedly running two stop signs and driving drunk. To make a long story short the girl(who was wasted) who I was following(who I met last night) happened to be seeing the cops Boss(She whipped out a pic of the two of them!) and he let us go Scot free Definitely a sobering experience
