Funny Experience at the Mercedes Dealership

Funny Experience at the Mercedes Dealership
I got a kick out of this and thought my friends here at CL might too...
Anyway, I got this card in the mail because Saks Fifth Avenue and Mercedes are jointly sponsoring some promotions that benefit breast cancer research. If you take the card to a Benz dealer and take a test drive, they put an authentication sticker on the card and you can mail it in for some free stuff. So I was out running errands anyway and decided to swing by to get my card validated.
I was frustrated at first because all the customer parking was taken up by new-looking Benzes. My first thought was that they had too many cars on the lot--maybe they haven't been selling well? Anyway, after driving around the whole place I finally double-parked in front of the customer parking area. This kid was getting in one of them and I asked why there were so many of them around. He said they were all there for maintenance, to which I replied that it must have been a busy Thursday in the service department and he shrugged his shoulders before telling me it was pretty much like that all the time. Now it could just be that Benzes are selling like hotcakes so they are overloaded with scheduled maintenance, but I more suspect it's because their new cars are falling apart.
Then I go in to get my card stamped. The guy who is handling this promotion took it and put the sticker on, and then asked if I really wanted to go for a test drive. I told him that I wasn't really in the market for a new car so it would save us both some time if I didn't. He just said, "Driving that car, I can't say I blame you." When I left, three of the Mercedes salesmen were checking out my Lex. One of them commented that Lexus should "hook up" all of their cars like that--I'll admit to getting an ego boost out of the whole experience because the LAST person I'd expect to be giving compliments on a car is a competing car salesman.
I drove away with a smile on my face...

nice story. The benz shop next door is ALWAYS busy....so it ain't your imagination. Mercedes-Benz is a great company....they make expensive cars that break all the time....and people still buy 'em.
