Marks the bombing of the USMC Barracks in Beirut Lebanon, and the subsequent bombing of French barracks. This was the first organized terrorist attack against the United States ever. Twenty years, four Republican terms, and two Democratic terms later, we can memorialize the 242 American servicemen and 58 French servicemen that died on this day today twenty years ago, and the thousands thereafter. God give us the prudence and humility to reflect on how foreign policy thereafter has failed us and the many victims of terrorism since that day.
