They might want the engine behind the front shock towers like most sport cars for better handling.

First Image of 2016 Lexus IS F? Nope, But Can You Tell Why It's Not?
This photo, supposedly showing a 2016 Lexus IS F sedan, was sent to our email by the crew over at Autonocion, who stated that it's the first image of the performance model. I wish it was, but I'm pretty sure it isn't.
Now, I could tell you about the boot spoiler and how it crudely cuts around the Lexus logo, but there's one main element missing from this car that immediately busts the IS F claim. Can you tell us what it is? Hint; it rhymes with the last name of one of the new stars added to Sylvester Stallone's upcoming flick, "The Expendables 3".
While you take a moment to think about it - perhaps these photos of the RC F can help you out too, let us tell you that we have no fresh info on the IS F other than that, if produced, it would likely share its V8 powertrain with the coupe model.
Now, as to what this car is, I'm almost convinced that it's a regular Lexus IS with a TRD kit (see our post here, or if you want a white example, Lexus Enthusiast has one here).

Very much so. Lexus has been adament that the RC is not just a two door IS/GS. The RC interior is admittedly close to the IS, but it's wider and longer too and able to incorporate a V8 as the F versions were designed for. It hasn't been discussed often though myself and another member have brought it to light once or twice, the 3IS engine bay was not designed for a V8, however looking at the space between the radiator and engine block of the 4GS and it's clear a F is coming for the GS. Engine space in the 3IS is hard to come by so that 2.0T will fit nicely as a 250 replacement. As for the IS F, 2014 carry over F's have ceased production so looks like the IS F will go on hiatus until Lexus is ready for the new one. I personally don't think we'll see a new IS F until the RC F and GS F have debuted, and even then the odds of a FI V6 seem most likely (that last bit of course is IMO) when the new gen powertrains (reported FI V6 and V8's in the works) and probably sometime around a IS refresh

Faked Spy Shot of the 2016 Lexus IS F
Is this a spy shot of the 2016 Lexus IS F? Jalopnik believes so, running the image yesterday after it was discovered on the Lexus Spain Facebook page.
Unfortunately, the car in question is nothing but a Lexus IS with some duct tape and a TRD Japan body kit — here’s a photo for reference:
(It’s impossible to say why Lexus Spain posted the photo, but the fact that it’s still on their Facebook page 24 hours later tells me this has nothing to do with the next-generation IS F.)
(Thanks everyone!)

Lexus IS To Be Next Recipient Of New Turbocharged Engine: Video
At the 2014 Beijing Auto Show last week, Lexus unveiled its new NX compact crossover and confirmed that the base model for the U.S. would be a NX 200t powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine, Lexus’s first turbo, will eventually make its way into other models from the Japanese brand, with the next recipient likely to be the IS sedan.
The new turbo engine musters up 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque in the NX 200t, and this output will likely be retained for the IS. What’s not clear is whether the turbo engine will replace the 2.5-liter V-6 currently offered as the base option in the IS or complement it.
As Motor Trend points out, Cadillac’s rival ATS sedan offers both a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine and a turbo before upgrading to a V-6, so it’s possible Lexus may continue to offer both engine options in its IS. However, given the feeble 204 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque of the IS's V-6, we have to wonder how many sales it would make considering the performance and expected efficiency gains of the new turbo engine.

Photos: Matte Grey Lexus IS F SPORT in Australia
Lexus of Perth in Australia continues to try new things with their inventory — first it was the matte black IS F SPORT, then a blacked out RX 450h, and now we have this matte grey IS F SPORT.
Something mean about a matte grey finish — might even prefer it to matte black. Excellent work as always from Lexus of Perth, they’re certainly unafraid to experiment.
