Default Considering a 07 ES 350 or a 06 Acura RL would like opinons

I am looking to go and buy a car and this one I want to keep for a LONG time. I have seen a 07 ES with NAV package 30K miles and also a 06 RL with 10K miles the lexus is about $1K more but in the same price range. I drive ALOT and really don't want to have any issues for awhile. In your opinion is there anything the ES has that the RL does? is the truck space in the ES large then the RL? I know that the ES has better gas mileage ( I drive around 40K a year) both have the same acceralation or what might be an advanage of driving the ES 350 over the RL? I like the ES350 looks blue with tan interior over white and black RL but it isn't all about looks. Please let me know what your thoughts are

07 was not the best year for the ES. Make sure you do your research (check out multiple posts on this forum), and have this 07 checked out. You would probably do better with an 08 ES, as Lexus made a lot of corrections.

As to the Acura, a fine car! The one you are looking at is year older with low miles...good car to pile miles on. Yes, worse MPG due to the AWD. Probably a much sportier car than the ES, it really depends on your taste.

I do like the big back seat and trunk on the ES, as I have two young kids. I owned a Acura TL prevoiusly, and do miss a the sporty ride.

I like the touch screen NAV on the Lexus. I don't like that dial on the Acura, but that is just me.

Good luck with your decision, hope my 2 cents helped a little.

You can probably get a 2004-2005 LS430 for around the same price (if you look around) as an ES350 or Acura RL. It's a better overall car than either.

Default Ls 430

Good point the ls430 is comparable to the RL what is better on the LS430 then the RL? it does have a V8 but is it any faster? Also to consider is how much is the repairs/maintance on the LS cost over the RL is it significantly more ? The price I was looking for is $23K or less

I probably not thinking of Acura at all because of the prestige of brand name, I only consider MB and Lexus TBH, if there is a VERY GOOD deal, I'll choose MB over Lexus, but for the balance of cost and reliability, I always choose Lexus.
Just my thought.

Love_lexus, i was in your same shoes a few months ago (shopping for a used car in the mid $20s range). Acura 06-07 TL and RL, 07 ES350, 06 GS300 and 06-07 Infiniti M35 were all on my list.

I settled on an ES because it has an overall lower cost of ownership (timing chains instead of belt, 100k spark plugs/coolant/trans oil replacement, etc). Best of all, i average over 27 Mpg on my car!! This is important since i run 20-25K miles every year. M35 and RL both have SUV mileage (20mpg average) and everything else just seems more expensive maintain (faster tire/brake wear, etc).

But the ES is not a sports oriented car so you will lose some fun factors on the road. That's why i kept my older 2 door 'sports' coupe around.

Look at 04+ LS430. It is the same price range and was a better car than the ES. The LS is so far ahead of the RL, its not even close. Just look at the reviews and ratings. The LS has been the MOST reliable car of all time. It has consistently come as close to perfection in the CR/JD ratings as any car has ever come. The build quality is great, and the depreciation is minimal (although it would be high at an INSANE 40k miles per year). You need to stop driving so much.
