matte black
hey fellow cl members,
Just wondering if anyone gots links or pics you can post of a matte black 1st gen? I am thinking if I should paint matte my gs or keep it gloss black. I need to get my gs repainted once I get it up and running again. thanks to any fellow member that can help out.

Not really fond on matte black but if you were to get something like a semi-gloss matte black like the Frozen Black M3 (pictured below) I think it wouldn't look half bad.

You know I thought about doing flat black, super low drop with 16" steelies and 16" mooneye style wheel covers..... Figured it would be different. Idk I might still do it just not flat black paint. Haha

seize I actually like that semi matte gloss black look. Another reason why I am thinking of a matte finish is because my Lexus has gotten keyed 3 times already. For some reason haters in the hood keep on keying black cars and slashing tires. the satin black is nice also. I will have to think about it.

NOPE, not easier to repair. I am a painter and let me tell you, any black paint (matte, satin, flat or gloss) WILL show the tiniest imperfections on the body. Unless done right, like in the picture Seize posted, the time and money spent is worth it.
Also, if sprayed by an inexperienced painter, matte or flat paint will have the "fan lines" or "tiger stripes" because the paint dries so fast, that it doesn't let the following hand to "dry into the previous coat". All in all, it is pretty hard to spray evenly and nicely. If you mess up, you gotta start all over again because there is no cutting and buffing involved.
I personally like satin WAY BETTER than flat: flat is hard to wash, incredibly dusty and the car NEVER looks clean.
It would be much easier for someone on a budget to just vinyl the car satin black instead of painting it, IMHO.
Not trying to discourage someone, just trying to state some facts from experience. hope this insight helps fellows!

Personally,I hate matte/flat black paint. To me it looks like just like car has been primmered with a rattle can. And the GS just doesn't look aggressive enough to pull off the look.....again,thats my opinion.

I think it can look aggressive enough to pull off the Satin Black with the right mods (stance, kit, wheels, and GRILL especially).
NOT the flat. I've always felt and associated flat black cars with cars that are going to be abused and half @$$ed. The GS doesn't deserve that.
