I got a 2006 IS350 60kmi, and recently after an oil change (did a 10w-30 instead of 5w-30) I started hearing a 'ticking' noise comming from the engine. It get lowder when put in reverse. Some forums state that it's a common problem with all IS2x since it has a direct injection, and that's where the noise is comming from.
Can anyone confirm that? Or has anyone experienced the same thing?
you mean you didnt hear the ticking before your oil change or has it gotten louder?
I didn't hear that before the oil change. So my initial guess was that's due to the oil being heavier (10w vs 5w), but everyone suggested that it's normal.
you might want to check if it is ticking or knocking. I know some had problems with a knocking on startup. The ticking should have been there in the beginning not after an oil change.
The ticking from the DI should sound like a pen when you click it to write with.

Direct Injection noise has absolutely nothing to do with the weight of your oil. The noise is completely normal; someone asks about it here every few weeks.
Why did you put 10W30 in? A TSIB that came out after your car was manufactured changed the recommended oil to 5W20. 5W30 is also acceptable. If I'm not mistaken, the owners manual specifically advises NOT to use 10W30 on a long-term basis.
