Hey guys, few quick questions..

Does the Lexus IS300 have a top speed limit {Governor} like Mercedes and BMW doing? If so, what’s is the limit?

Also what’s your opinion on 0-60mph times for stock. Lexus.com lists 7.3 is this figure close or conservative. Do you guys think the stock BMW 330i would beat an IS 0-60 drag race? BMW list 7.0 for automatic, but I don’t know the 3 series is heavier. Cheers.

there is a speed governor on the is3, around 140mph i believe, or 149 at most i forgot

the 330i will win most likely. 7.3 for is300 auto is pretty accurate, the 5 speed is3 is about 6.5 0-60 i believe. the 300ci is one damn fast car, 0-60 is like low 6, very fast. so i don't think the 330i would be much slower

 

yeah the IS is governed at 144. The bmw 330i does about 10 more horsepower than the IS with 225 compared to 215. the 330i is also about 5k more.

 

The 330i may inch out the IS300 in a 0-60 or 1/4 run but it will romp on a 325i manual or auto anyday.

 

Is it fuel or spark cut?

Yes. Freeway is where the IS300 shines. The 325i doesn't have the torque to pull. I've done this several times on my morning commutes and my almost daily run-in with an at that time new 2003 325ic and my at that time brand new 04 IS300.

yeah dude, the IS300 should for sure take a 325 any day if you look at the specs. The IS has 40 more lb-ft of torque and 30 more horsepower at its dispense. However, is it a possibility that the BMW might have a more efficient, faster gear setup? Lemme know how the race went!

is the 325i a 5spd? if so it is much quicker than the auto version and slightly quicker than the 5spd is300. also check out the new Car & Driver March '04 issue. or check this:

i remember this kid from school with an IS300 telling me how he got owned by a bmw 325. his IS is stock auto and the 325 had some sort of chip. im not familiar with bmw mods but i've heard a simple chip for an audi 1.8t will make the hp jump from 150 to 200.
