I have a 2001 LS430. which drives like a dream, but I have had several issues:

1. Steering wheel was making a loud vibrating sound when it was retracting away from the driver when the car was turned off. This was fixed under warranty. My dealership said it was a common problem. No problems now.

2. Intermittent humming/vibrating sound coming from the dash area, which apparently is a fault in the power brake vacuum pump? This too will be fixed under warranty next week.

3. There is an intermittent cracking noise (almost sounds like stone chips flying up at the car, but it isn't). Seems to come from the passenger side and worse when car is first started. Only occurs when car is in motion in drive.

My mileage is 49,800 miles and I have a 100,000 CPO warranty. This seems like a lot of problems for a Lexus, but maybe these are common typical problems at this mileage. I bought the car used at 41,000 miles. Is the CPO warranty as all-inclusive as the original manufacturer's warranty?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

There is always the possibility that you (or previous owner) got a lemon. I don't think it's very likely that you would have these problems if you had bought the car brand new from the dealer. I'm sure the problems existed with the previous owner or were caused by him/her. Hopefully the dealer can get everything repaired under warranty.....good luck.
