Outside mirror on LS430 not folding

After driving several hours along I-65, I pulled into my garage and noticed that when the car was turned off, only my driver outside mirror folded in. I looked over at the passenger mirror and saw that it tired to collapse, but just didn't fold all the way.
Any one else experience this problem?

Yes I have on my 2001 LS430 had the same problems with the folding mirror. I have a warranty still on my car but, when it happened to me last August (2003), I used some WD-40 and sprayed it in between the area were the mirrors fold and if you look good you can see the bolt like items in between that makes the mirrors fold. I think some rust can build up on the area that rotates the folding mechanism. You should call the dealership if your not comfortable with what i did and see if they have other people who have had that problem also. It should be under warranty, we both have 2001 LS430's that leaves at least another year depending on miles. Also check your manual for your questions about cool box operation. If you don't have one go to Lexus.com and order one at the Owners section I belive it is. It cost nothing to those who own Lexus' and I go both manuals. All in all i don't think you have any out of pocket problems. Also don't spray on to much WD-40 and let it sit a while before you see if it works, also since spraying the WD-40 my rearview mirrors they have been perfect.
GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME AND ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD.

My girl friend's 2002 LS430 had this problem too. The dealer worked on it a couple of times before the problem finally went away. Get it fixed while the warranty lasts.

I don't have any warranty left on this car. The mileage has exceeded 50k and I'm not paying Lexus or any other warranty company $2k+ for coverage.
I did lubricate the point where the mirror swivels with liquid wrench. I moved the mirror by hand, and then used the manual controls in the car to extend and retract the mirror. This seems to be working. I drove into work today and noticed that everything is working as designed!
Thanks for the advice.

My 2001 LS Ultra is in the shop right now for the mirrors. Its got 48,500 miles on it and they're replacing both the mirrors with new ones. (Bell Lexus Phoenix) They're also replacing the wood wheel, center armrest leather, and removing the Lexus Link. I'm milking that warranty work before the 50k mark! Cha-ching!

the wood gets cracks in it. You can feel them with your hands placed on top the wheel. common problem on early LS430s. I guess something with the heat from the sun warping the wood. Anyway, Lexus is replacing them.
