Default Problems with my new ES300

First, I just wanted to say thanks for an earlier post that you guys help me on when I was contemplating on buying a 1997 ES300. I bought a 1997 ES300 with 70k on it for 6,600 which I think is a bit of a steal. Now that I have it I have a few minor problems that you guys can help me with.

1. My power steering pump is leaking so my mechanic reccommend me to put some stop leak in it until I could find a used one because a new one costed around 500 bucks. My question is: Is the stop leak going to fix my problem or should I replace it with a used one. Also, if i should replace it, wheres a good source to get a used one besides ebay?

2. My memory seats do not work and my mechanic said that it might be the memory control module but he's not sure? Amybody have or had this problem? Is he right or could it be something else?

3. My radio works perfect in AM and CD but not in FM mode. What could cause this problem?

Thanks ahead.

Cool

I think you need a new mechanic.

He's done my 1993 SC400 for years and never steered me wrong. Any suggestions on my problems listed above?

Cool

For questions 1 & 3,

First number one, the stop leak will only be a temporary fix so yes I would replace it eventually. Other than e-bay, I'd look at auto wrecker or salvage yards or if possible, consider an aftermarket unit if they exist.

Is your radio a factory unit? & do you have the windows tinted? Some metalizied tints give interference & cause reception problems. Do you have one or two FM bands on your stereo?

Not sure about question number 2, but from what you described I'd say that sounds like a good possibility.

It's a factory unit and I don't have any tint installed. I took it to a sound place today and they said its an internal problem and that I might need another factory unit. Where can I buy one used for cheap?

My seat memory didn't work when I first bought the car.

Turns out the bum detailer at the dealership I bought it from ("Independence Auto", pft) had pushed the trim panel around the buttons so that the buttons were actually all being pressed and had slid underneath the nearby trim slightly.

Get your mechanic to fiddle with it a tad, it may pop into place.

Auto wrecker or salvage yard........just pull it out & plug it back into your Lex! Shouldn't be too expensive.
