Deal is done.. I'm soon to be a CPO LS430 Owner..
Well first off let me thank all the LS members I have been bugging via PM and asking all sorts of questions so I was a more educated consumer in the dealer showroom today..
Thankfully I knew the previous owner of this '05 LS430 UL BLK/BLK and he took very good care of the mechanical aspects of this car but did not take care of the paint by taking such a nice car through abrasive car washes due to living in a Condo..
However since this car is classified CPO I was able to work into the deal repainting the front and rear bumpers and wet sand and polishing of the entire car. Also 2 dents in the body with be taken care by Dent Doctor..
Car has 1 year of warranty left and I am undecided about getting an extended protection plan.. Would my fellow LS owners give me their thoughts if I should or am I just wasting 2,900 CDN for a 3 year - 140,000 kms extension..
Anyways took a quick picture before we left the dealer today.. Looking forward to spending more time on CL and modding this baby out..

personally, i would save that money. take care of all the warranty issues within the remaining year. even 3years down the line, your car will still be in prestine condition. i'm approaching my fifth year of owning my car and 100k later still no issues. beside spending $$ on modding my car, i've changed brake pads, trans fluid, oil changes, sparkplugs, air filter, the basic stuff. my car has never been to the dealership for anything. the only time my car has spend time at the dealer is for complimentary oil changes and condensation in my headlights (which i took care of prior to my expiration of my warranty).
*i dont' think those wheels are right for your ride. looks outta place. imo.

As for the wheels I am still on the fence.. Place where I got them 2 years ago said they would be willing to trade them for any other 17" rim they carry and they would give me $100 each since I have sent them alot of business in the past

Congrats on the car.
Different warranty perspective, although if I had to gamble, a Lexus is a pretty safe bet.

I agree with Michael that the wheels do not seem to fit the LS. It looks a bit sporty and the second pic confirms it for me. The LS is a substantial car and deserves a set of wheels that are too. Just my .02.

I like the wheels........
This is my thinking as well.. Its a Lexus LS they over engineer this thing.. I rather spend the money modding her out too.. Thank you for your insight.. Much appreciated!!

Again I say this with respect to those that modify there cars so, no need for angry comments to my post. I respect peoples choice to do with there money what they please, just an opinion. I say, why buy a LS,S-Class,BMW,Jaguar or Audi if you want to modify it. These cars make a statement as is. Again I understand modifying your car for personal touches is why people modify but, the smart money in my opinion is the warranty.
Cars are like kids(teenagers especially) unpredictable. So chancing the car wont have problems and luxury cars do and its costly if it occurs will be a bigger hassle and make you ask why did i spend $5,000 on modifications when i need $3,000 for this problem with my car and im out of warranty. Even with proper service by the dealer or a mechanic outside of Lexus doesnt mean no problems can occur. The gambler who goes to Las Vegas loses most of the time thats why the casino is still open.
Nonetheless good luck, I think your torn because the business side of you is saying to get the warranty. If you are bothered by it get the warranty. We always tell ourselves what we need to truly do, sometimes we listen to ourselves and sometimes we dont.

Airtime has a thread called "Am I glad I got the extended warranty" check it out. This is an example of why I say warranty first then modifications if you really want them. I have no modifications and let me say my felllow member it will be more painful to your pocket when your out of warranty if you dont. These cars are expensive when a big cost problem occurs. Check out Airtimes thread.

The more I think about it I am pretty sure I will get the extended service plan and work it into the financing.. Not much of a hit over 2 years and the peace of mind with such an expensive car is worth it to me.
As for modding if done properly the LS looks amazing.. Just three things I want to do.. 20" rims (Derrick @D2 is helping me through this process) , DataSystem Air Controller and a nice tint (35% doors - 20% rear window).
I contemplated running the chrome 17" LS wheels in the winter but the salt they use here in the Toronto region will destroy them. Here is a link of what I can choose from at this local guy I have been using for years now.. Guys take a peek and give me your thoughts..

Keep us posted.
PS: You can shop around for the extended warranty via other Lexus dealers and since the CDN is pretty strong right now you may get a nice deal. Though not sure if you can buy a USA warranty for Canada?
