2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport Gets Reviewed
The Lexus IS 350 F Sport is a compelling choice for those shopping in the midsize sport sedan segment. Its competitors, chiefly the Cadillac ATS 3.6 and the BMW 335i M Sport, may offer a bit more “sport” than the Lexus, but all the competition is so close that at the end of the day, looks and practicality are what end up becoming the deciding factors.
With the IS 350 you get a 3.5L V6 that offers 306 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The IS 350 with rear-wheel drive swaps gears with an eight-speed automatic. If you want all-wheel drive traction, you’ll have to settle for a six-speed automatic. You can no longer get a manual-transmission IS. Let’s pause for a moment of silence.
Naught to 60 is achieved in 5.6 seconds for the rear-wheel-drive IS 350. All-wheel drive adds a tenth of a second to the 0-60 time.
Fuel economy comes in at 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Combined, the IS 350 gives you 22 miles for every gallon of dinosaur juice.
The F Sport package offers a stiffer suspension, sporty-looking wheels, and exterior tweaks like a mesh front grille.
Pricing for the IS 350 F Sport begins at $43,435. The regular IS 350, or the IS 350 that doesn’t give an F, starts at $39,465.
