2018 Lexus LS Is Officially a Bargain…to Most Folks
We dial up a few journalists for feedback on the new price. Reactions run the gamut from total agreement to evoking the Lord’s name in vain!
The 2018 Lexus LS is all-new and significantly improved over the outgoing model, which, of course, means that it’s going to cost more than the old one. But despite the addition of an incredible amount of new technology, more powerful engines and vastly-improved styling, the new LS won’t cost you that much more. Lexus has officially announced a starting MSRP of $75,995 (including the $995 delivery, processing and handling fee). This is a scant $2,480 over the outgoing model.
Despite the increase, the 2018 Lexus LS is still priced well below its competitors. The BMW 7-Series starts out at $84,095, while the Mercedes S-Class starts out at $97,525, which makes the new LS more than a bit of a bargain…well, at least to some folks.
We dialed up a couple of our automotive journalist buddies for their take on the newly-announced price of the Lexus LS and, well, the reactions varied widely, from total agreement to evoking the Lord’s name in vain!
“It’s competitive,” MB World editor Manuel Carrillo III tells Club Lexus about the LC’s slightly higher price tag. “S-Class starts at $89,900. Maybach starts at $168,600. The LS is priced as a tweener but punches rather close to S-Class.”
“Sounds about right for a flagship,” adds automotive journalist Jake Stumph of LS1 Tech.

“Yeah, just totally crazy with how many flagships we see driving around,” says fellow journalist Nolan Browning, Internet Brands Automotive Content and Community Manager. “But the LS starts at $76,000…good lord. Makes the Conti seem like quite a deal in comparison, even though it is in a lower class. I’d rather have a $60k Continental than a base LS. Not saying the LS isn’t great… it would just be hard to justify.”
