2018 Lexus LC Is Far From Practical And That’s Okay

2018 Lexus LC 500 Review

Detriot News reviews the new LC 500 and LC 500h.

Sometimes, you want to drive a vehicle that’s comfortable and practical. A vehicle that gets you from point A to point B without much fuss, while carrying a trunk full of groceries. Sometimes, you want the exact opposite of that. You want a car that’s all about fun and excitement. In a recent review by the Detriot News, they talk about how the new 2018 Lexus LC 500 is the perfect car for that time when you just want to drive something completely impractical.

The review calls the LC 500 “a beguilingly beautiful driveway accessory you’ll never see hauling lumber on a home improvement show — even though, let’s be honest, this zippy number will do far more to improve your life than any bathroom remodel.” That comes as no surprise to those who have seen the vehicle. The luxurious, sporty coupe is meant to draw looks from people as you drive by. It’s definitely not meant to carry home your Home Depot haul.

Detroit News actually had the opportunity to not only drive the LC 500, but also the hybrid model, the LC 500h. As one would expect, the hybrid just wasn’t as much fun as the gas-powered 500. As the review states, “You’ll be hooked from the moment you experience the symphony of its throaty roar. And the infatuation will only grow once you throw it into a corner and find it planted with a low center of gravity, more than retaining its composure as you put it through its paces. Its super-smooth suspension only sweetens the deal.” While the 500h, apparently, feels obviously less powerful, and the transmission has a noticeably different feel.

The review also points out the luxurious interior that comes with soft suede, stitched leather, and metallic accents. “Its design is particularly appealing, with a soft flowing look that echoes the exterior,” says the reviewer.

The Lexus LC 500 isn’t completely perfect, however. The reviewer goes on to state that the trunk space leaves a lot to be desired. Honestly, anyone purchasing the vehicle with trunk space in mind misses the whole point of the design.
