2020 Toyota Supra Drive Review: Return of an Icon
Let’s wrap things up
Throughout my time with Supra, it was clear that a lot of care and attention to detail was put into this car. Toyota didn’t have to build a Supra, they wanted to, and it shows.
The Supra is back, figuratively and literally. It offers exemplary performance for the price point, and the looks alone will help Toyota sell a ton of them. Granted, I know the exterior styling is bold, but, in person, it’s amazing to look at, something people repeatedly mentioned. There are no bad looking colors, either, which is uncommon for any car. I would consider this a testament to the efficacy of that bold styling.
For around $55,000, the Supra Premium model ticks a lot of boxes, but it’s also up against steep competition. For the Toyota fans, and the Supra fans out there, they will need no convincing. It’s really good, go buy one and enjoy it. Toyota says they will build as many Supras as people will buy, but it is using this first model year to really gauge the market. It’s worth noting that in Europe and Japan, the 2020 model is already sold out, which is promising.
The only hurdle will be bringing in customers who may have been considering the BMW Z4, or even something like the Porsche Cayman, which is the official Supra benchmark car. To those people, I say, go take it for a test drive. Just be sure to put it in Sport mode, and thank me later.
