Lexus Reveals IS 500 Pre-Order Guide After Leak (Fridays are for F Presented by Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus)
We have all the options and specs offered on the V8-powered IS 500 F Sport Performance ahead of its fall release.
Anticipation is high for the 2022 Lexus IS 500 F-Sport Performance. With the upcoming IS 500 F Sport marking the swan song of the naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8, Lexus is giving the superior powertrain a great send off. And the IS 500 is making the most of this brawn with a hotter and sportier style. While Lexus will not officially debut the ’22 IS 500 F Sport until later this fall, the pre-order guide has gone live on the Lexus website.
It was a little surprising that this popped up so soon. Especially given that the sales brochure was revealed online by vlogger Kirk Kreifels–and immediately started racking up the hits. But one thing is certain; everyone is excited by the prospect of an IS F Sport with a banging engine.
We have a look at the options, details, and specs for the 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance edition.
IS 500 F Sport Options
As a small sedan with a big V8, the style is definitely more sporty and sculpted. But Lexus also added a healthy dose of aggression with nuanced detail. Lexus seems determined to remind us that the IS 500 F Sport Performance is not an IS 350 with a F Sport appearance package. This is a different beast; and the raised front hood, slick front end and purposeful stance nicely accent that.
For 2022 the IS will be offered in a choice of eight colors including Ultra White, Caviar, Iridium, Infrared, Atomic Silver, Grecian Water, Cloudburst Gray, and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0.
Interior colors are Black Nuluxe, White Nuluxe, Circuit Red Nuluxe, and Black Geometric. Lexus allows for various configurations with color and trim. However, there are a few exceptions. Really? No Infared exterior with CircuitRed interior?
Lexus loaded the IS 500 with a wide range of standard features. Technology is improved, as is on-board connectivity. Plus the safety features are outstanding.

Performance
The big story in the 2022 IS 500 F Sport — the one you most likely already know — is the 5.0-liter V8, a major boost in oomph over the over the IS 350’s 3.5-liter V6. This stellar naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 engine roars to life at the push of a button, pumping out 472 hp at 7,100 rpm and 395 lb-ft of peak torque at 4,800 rpm to the rear. With a high-revving V8 roar, it sends the IS 500 F-Sport from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
It is clear that Lexus wanted to make the IS 500 F Sport Performance more than just an appearance package. The RC F was clearly influential, with the IS 500 FSP employing the same eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission with lockup torque converter. Performance enhancements include a quad exhaust system with dual stacked tail pipes that serve the V8 engine; and give it a savage, rumbling exhaust note.
2022 really aims to deliver, arming the IS 500 F Sport with the power and handling to earn the performance designation. Standard features on the IS 500 F Sport include: Drive Mode Select with Sport S/S+ and Custom modes, Yamaha rear performance dampers, two-piece aluminum 14.0-in front and 12.7-in rear brake rotors, Torsen 5 limited-slip differential, quad exhaust tips, F Sport–tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension, and more.
Drivers can choose 19-in split-10-spoke Enkei alloy wheels or the Launch Edition 19-in seven-spoke forged alloy very sleek Matte Black BBS.
The new sedan is a welcome return for the powerful V8, paired with more aggression throughout to unleash IS 500’s more performance-oriented side. And 2022’s model promises to make the most of the 5.0-liter N/A V8 in a hi-po last blast.
