2025 Lexus IS Celebrates 25 Years With New Limited-Edition Package
As part of its silver anniversary, the 2025 Lexus IS is gaining a decent amount of new standard features, plus a special package limited to just 180 units.
It may seem hard to believe, but the Lexus IS has been around for a quarter-century now, with its current, third-generation model debuting over a decade ago. While it hasn’t been treated to major updates in a pretty long time, the IS remains a favorite among enthusiasts who appreciate a luxurious and sporty driving experience, all wrapped up in a handsome package. Thus, as a way to help keep the sedan fresh and appealing for yet another carryover model year, the 2025 Lexus IS has gained a few updates – including the addition of standard equipment, plus a new, limited-edition package.
For starters, both the 2025 Lexus IS 300 F Sport and IS 350 F Sport trims have gained some standard features in the form of power folding mirrors that sport dark chrome trim and auto-dimming functionality, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, dark chrome window trim, and the memory package, which adds that convenience feature for the side mirrors, steering wheel, and driver’s seat. Additionally, all 2025 Lexus IS F Sport models also get a heated steering wheel as standard equipment for the new year, which was added to select grades in 2024 and is now included across the F Sport lineup based on customer feedback.
Perhaps the biggest news for the 2025 Lexus IS, however, is that the IS 500 F Sport has been treated to a brand new Special Appearance Package that’s available as an option for Premium trim models. That special package adds a rather distinctive paint color called Flare Yellow, along with a set of 19-inch BBS wheels sporting a fresh design, a Black NuLuxe interior with yellow stitching and suede inserts for the seats, color-coordinated floor mats and key gloves, plus a SmartAccess Card Key, while all 2025 IS 500 models get standard power folding mirrors. The IS 500 Special Appearance Package is limited to just 180 units of production, however, making it a bit of a collector’s item.
Other than these updates, the 2025 Lexus IS lineup carries over unchanged from the previous model year, and that includes powertrains. That means the rear-wheel drive IS 300 features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder making 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive IS 300 is powered by the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 260 horsepower and 236 pound-feet via a six-speed automatic, while the IS 350 can be had in either rear- or all-wheel-drive with the 3.5-liter V6 pumping out 311 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with the eight- or six-speed gearbox, respectively.
The enthusiast’s choice, however, is the IS 500 F Sport, which is one of the few vehicles of any kind these days that comes with a naturally-aspirated V8 – in this case, a 5.0-liter unit making 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque, driving the rear wheels with an eight-speed automatic. In terms of pricing, the 2025 Lexus IS 300 starts out at $41,360, with the range-topping IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium ringing in at $64,845 – all with the $1,175 in mandatory destination and delivery fees included.
