If consumers are paying extra for an F-Sport package or an F performance line model, they should get a lot of extras that justify that price tag. It’s a balancing act that Lexus isn’t always the best at. Sure, Lexus makes beautiful cars that last forever. But, as one example, the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition doesn’t deliver $100,000 thrills as well as its competition. If the F moniker represents the pinnacle of Lexus track capability, they need to do a better job besting European and American sports cars in more ways than luxury interiors.
Ultimately, Lexus needs to takes a look back and better define the F designation. Applying core ideas of speed, dynamism, exclusivity, and a truly special driving experience made the marque. Now, let’s just make it a little edgier.
