Accelerating Lexus LFA is F’ing Perfection (Fridays are for F Presented by Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus)

Lexus LFA (Tedward)

Behind the wheel of a Lexus LFA, meeting other sweet auto rarities at a car show, and tearing through tunnels along the way … it is V10 powered paradise.

Like many auto enthusiasts, my interest developed young. From our driveway and beyond, I went from swooning from afar to finally learning to drive. It was then that I discovered one of my favorite ways to experience and feel a vehicle’s performance was driving it through a tunnel. In this environment, the focus is almost entirely on forward momentum and peripheral sense. And if one wants to understand why going pedal down through a tunnel (all within the speed limit, natch) can be so heart-pumping; we recommend doing so in a Lexus LFA.

This week’s Fridays Are For F features exactly that: a Lexus LFA on the road and tearing through tunnels. In the video, we get excellent on-board camera footage allowing us to vicariously drive a Lexus LFA on a day trip. One destination is a car show in Boston. And along the way, we get a multi-sensory Lexus LFA experience going over bridges, through tunnels, and powerfully commanding the road.

Lexus LFA profile (Tedward)

Our host is auto writer and vlogger Tedward. He is taking the Lexus LFA to Boston’s The Art of the Automobile auto show. A trip that, admittedly, is not wrought with wild, sinewy roads. But it does go through plenty of tunnels, and Tedward knows how cool that will be.

“I feel I would be doing you a disservice by not sharing the ride,” he jokes. But he’s right. Not many cars are so amazing that their stunning attributes translate to the screen. But the Lexus LFA definitely does.

Some may wonder why the LFA has such a devout following. Well, the alpha and omega of the LFA is Lexus 4.8-liter V10 engine. The 553 hp engine is a masterpiece of quick throttle response and has one of hottest exhaust notes ever. And the video gives us extra servings to feel its unique power delivered with such smooth refinement.

It LFA effortlessly hits 0 to 60 mph in under 3.7 seconds. That is demonstrated beautifully in the video as Tedward accelerates in a tunnel; and we see the speedometer just slide from 20 to 100 in a snap…a smooth but Thanos-worthy snap.

Being in the (virtual) driver’s seat, going full tilt through tunnels in a Lexus LFA is a powerful thing. It engages the eyes, the ears, all the senses are coiled in the LFA’s pull. Few cars before or since can claim that level of gut punch.

Of course, no road trip would be complete without some doofus mucking things up on the road. Enjoy a Tesla driver swerve irresponsibly and almost cause an accident. Everyone is fine, and yes … the Lexus LFA was safe and sound.

Also, Tedward does a great job. We get a walkthough, and then the full on-board experience. Plus, he shows us some of the sweet rides at The Art of Automobile show, including a little Porsche, Ford GT, and more. But the genius is in the simplicity: just show the LFA on the road. It’s amazing.

After experiencing the Lexus LFA from this perspective, it is apparent how unique and special it is. Not only is the LFA the pinnacle of Lexus F performance, it also ranks high as supercar nobility.
