Least shocking news of the day: ClubLexus members own many beautiful rides.

ClubLexus recently teamed with Avalon King to host The Great ClubLexus Show & Shine. The idea was simple. Share a photo (or several) of your Lexus and be entered for a chance to win sweet ceramic coating products. It’s no surprise that ClubLexus members own some beautiful rides, but it was great to see a bunch of them together in one virtual car show. And today we wanted to let everyone know that the results are in. We have two runner-up winners and one grand prize winner. Please help us in congratulating them all!

Our grand prize winner Cozmo also provided us with this deeper description of his car:

I’ve been a fan of the Lexus SC ever since a friend of mine’s father purchased an SC400 brand new in ’93. I wasn’t familiar with the chassis, but a Japanese car, with rear wheel drive and a v8. It was so smooth running, and plush inside…I was hooked! In the summer of ’09 I needed a new car I looked for an SC. I found a great example at a Pontiac dealer nearby, a ’92 SC400 with about 60k miles. I bought it, and I joined Club Lexus (Cozmo) in August of that year. I was mainly interested in the maintenance and upkeep, and the social aspect of connecting with other SC owners. Then I started following some of the build threads, and watching the transformation.

Fast forward to the summer of 2017 when I hooked up with the facebook group, Chicagoland Lexus SC Meets. There I met fellow Club Lexus member Jim McLaughlin (JimmyMac30) in the summer 0f ‘18. I had seen his build thread, and was very impressed with the work he’d put into it. I was even more impressed with the car in person.

At the time I was considering buying a fun performance car. Maybe wait for an R33, maybe an M5, but not a Supra…lol. Then at one of the meets, Jim mentioned he was considering selling his ’99 SC300. The more I thought about it, the more an SC300 seemed right. I considered the car sort of a resto-mod because it’s got a lot of upgraded parts, and not all of them Toyota/Lexus. But the car was like new. New paint, new interior, new glass, new headlights/tail lights, new suspension, new brakes, new wheels and tires.

We talked about it the rest of the summer. I wasn’t really ready to buy something at that moment, but if I let it go, I knew I’d regret it. The fact that Jim lives about 30 minutes from me made the whole process even easier. August of ’18 we agreed on a price, and I ended up trading him my ’92 SC400 in the deal. To make a long story short, he sold the SC400 soon after to another local SC fan, and I bought it back from that guy to use as a daily less than a year after I traded it.

The only change I’ve done to it is to add a wastegate dump pipe, and a lot of wash and wax! I’ve considered doing a ceramic coating, but I’m not that familiar with the whole process, so I never did anything. I keep the car garaged, and only use it here and there, but I always do a full wash afterwards to keep the bug splatter and other contaminants from damaging the finish long term. So I’m really looking forward to giving the Avalon King’s Armor Shield a try. And I’d also be open to any follow up questions about my experience with the process. I have a lot of

I think it would be great to be featured on the home page, and I’d answer any questions you have, but I think it would be remiss to not include Jim in it as well as he could probably provide some detail that I cannot. He’s the guy with the skills, I was just the guy with a pile of cash.
