OK, so it’s not exactly a Lexus—but it might as well be. And Surfy built it up to drive through Africa. His route took him from Morocco, through a bunch of places you wouldn’t want to be with an American passport, and continued all the way around the Horn of Africa.
Breaking news, it’s not. But the lads at Car Throttle have just posted a new video starring the RC F, and it features a nice respectable burnout, plenty of 5.0L V8 engine noise, a brief cameo by a certain V10 supercar, and lots of glamour shots of the new Lexus sports coupe. It’s worth watching.
Shooting cars at an auto show is always tricky. Between all the people wandering through the frame, the terrible lighting and terrible time constraints it’s generally a nightmare. Getting these shots was a soft-lit dream.
The remote-controlled RC F might be a tiny—but the car control demonstrated in the “Play Time” video LexusVehicles released yesterday is immense. Where does the operator even stand to get the perspective needed to judge these microscopic tolerances? I think it’s time for a behind-the-scenes video, not to mention a GoPro.
Here’s something that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone: LF-LC GT “Vision Gran Turismo” looks bonkers awesome. It’ll hit the virtual tarmac in Gran Turismo 6 this spring as part of a free update. Until then, you’ll just have to tide yourselves over with these killer pics.
Obviously, this isn’t a license to drive your Lexus RX 350 4WD into a wall for sport. But a just-released Insurance Institute for Highway Safety study showed that between 2009 and 2012, no driver died behind the wheel of the mid-size luxury crossover.
So, I’m going to forgive the fact that this “commercial” is a pretty obvious ploy to get Lexus fans to subscribe to The Lexus Vehicles, which, as official as it might sound, is not the real one.
