Lexus of the Day: Building a GS F for Drag Racing

2016 Lexus GS F

Purchased new in 2017 by a Club Lexus member, 2016 GS F gets cranked to 11 to do 10s on the quarter-mile, all for fun.

Ever wondered what all you could do with your Lexus? Perhaps in need of some inspiration? Why not check out the build threads we have in our Club Lexus Forums. We have threads for nearly every Lexus made since 1989, from first-gen LS models to final-gen GS F rides. You never know what you might find, but you might come away with some new ideas.

You may even be nuts enough to go to town on a brand new Lexus. That’s what forum member biggame did back in 2017 with a then-new 2016 GS F. Today, it’s a quarter-mile warrior. Let’s see how we got here, shall we?

“After a break from Lexus we were in search of our next project,” biggame wrote in mid-August 2017.” We looked at Cadillac ATSV/CTSV, Ford Mustang GT350, Chevy Camaro ZL1, as well as others. We were leaning toward the CTS-V with carbon/Recaros. Though when it came time to make our decision, we got a call from a friend at Lexus. They were offering us a chance to purchase a new GS F for a price we could not refuse. Stoked to say the least!”

Thus our poster returned to the Lexus fold. If you turn up on the thread today, you’ll actually see everything he’s ever done with it before even digging down into the 27-page thread itself. And it’s all wild, too. There’s meth injection, racing brake rotors, Enkei wheels for the drag radials, and a supercharger kit for domination.

The results? His GS F now makes nearly 615 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque on the dyno. And makes any competitor cry at the green light. Not to mention all of the YouTube videos on his channel documenting the fun he’s having with the build.

“Honestly, I’m just having fun with it,” biggame says about his GS F. And why not? After all, it’s not every day a Lexus goes from the high street to the drag strip to embarrass more than a few competitors off the light.
