Club Lexus IS F-ers Pushing the Envelope

Laws are a great idea for most, but some extraordinary citizens should get extra special exemptions, don’t you think?

Like take the speed limit, for instance. Shouldn’t the speed limit be meant for people who can’t handle speed? Like BMW drivers? And if you own a Lexus IS F, obviously you’re a heckuva decision maker, so shouldn’t you be able to push the machine to its unnatural extremes?

Well, on second thought, maybe not. Perhaps selective speed limits might open up a whole bag of trouble, considering the rocket ships that are out there today. No, I guess someone higher up than me was onto something when they created this whole speed limit thing, whoever that jerk was.

Honestly though, we don’t need to put any revisions on the books, because it doesn’t look like many of you Lexus IS F drivers are obeying those speed limits anyways, at least if we’re judging by CDNROCKIES‘s thread titled, “How far have you pushed your IS F???”

Here’s how the thread kicked off, way back in 2008:

“We’ve seen some fun times as far as 0-60 or 1/4 mile times….but who’s pushed their cars at the top end??? Anybody hit the governor (170mph) yet? Anybody had the governor removed??? Rumors are that they’ll do 190ish without it! Any truth? I reached 260-265 km/h so was within 10 km/h of it topping outClub Lexus IS F-ers Pushing the Envelope I’ll mention that it was done safely in a controlled environmentClub Lexus IS F-ers Pushing the Envelope

See, 260-265 km/h done safely, as only a Lexus driver can. Alas, while many who replied were well within their track rights, we can’t say that about everyone in this thread, which is still garnering responses seven years later. What we can say, though, is that there’s plenty of you out there enjoying the IS F to the max.

Here’s some of our favorite responses, but head over to the forum for all the goods:

Hit 155mph…racing a motorcycle on the E I-10 going to Autoclub Speedway for drag racing….Club Lexus IS F-ers Pushing the Envelope — CrazyMPG

The other night I hooked up with an SL63 AMG. Probably one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen, no joke. We were cruising on some country roads late at night. Road opened up, we both nailed it… we were doin 155 in no time, but it felt like nothing. — DRE1615

155mph against an EVO IX….2 things happen…1 he hit his limiter, 2, he backed off….all i know is i was ahead….3am…no one on the freeway =), never again BTW…too risky — Just F Me

I’ve pushed mine hard enough to almost get a wheel fully off the ground. Don’t know how fast I was going though. — VelvetBlue

I have never had to push my car, always keep the tank full Club Lexus IS F-ers Pushing the Envelope haha — Petshark

California interstate 5. I don’t know how fast I was going. It was long and straight and empty and I was too busy watching the road as foreground became the background faster than my brain could process. I’ll never do that again. It felt like I was playing with my life! — Roffles
