Cosmic Blue Wrapped 4th Gen Lexus GS Is Out of This World
Vinyl wrap is a cheap(er) and non-permanent way to dramatically change the look of your Lexus.
There are some very good reasons why vinyl wrap is so popular in the automotive world these days. Gone are the days when you had to pay for an expensive paint job to change the color of your ride. Along with being stuck with the job once it’s complete. Thanks to vinyl wrap, you can temporarily give your car a completely new look, then rip it off if you don’t like it or want to change. All at a much cheaper price than a proper paint job. Wraps also allow folks like Club Lexus forum member FSportBill a way to circumvent the trouble of finding a specific car that they’re looking for, too.
“For the last 6 months I’ve been looking for a 2015+ GS350 F-Sport in the Ultra Sonic Blue Mica color. I couldn’t find one, so I decided to have mine wrapped instead. Went with 3M Gloss Cosmic Blue and LOVE IT!! I think it looks pretty damn close to the factory Ultrasonic Blue Mica color. I also had the grille wrapped in a satin black and the front emblem tinted to match the overall look. The side exterior mirrors, the rear lip, and the entire roof are all gloss black. I also did the chrome delete and went with the gloss black. The rear emblems and the rear exhaust tips were all plastidipped black to match. The last thing I’ll have done next week is the window tint.”
The transformation this Lexus went through is nothing short of amazing. Even if it did cost a decent amount of money, the quality of work appears to be top notch.
“They didn’t wrap under the hood, nor under the trunk lid or the door jambs. That would have put the cost way out of my budget. What I did so far cost right around $3k, but I think it was well worth it given the dramatic change and the quality of the workmanship.”
Member E46CT has been pricing out wrapping his own car. And that research revealed that it’s way cheaper to do it yourself, if you dare.
“Materials to wrap a car are about $350-$500. It’s the prep you really need to get right. I want to do my car one day, but I have to really vet the vinyl first to make sure it’s glossy. Truly glossy. Paint glossy. I find 85% of the vinyls out there market as gloss end up looking like trash bags.”
Much like a paint job, proper wrap jobs are all about picking the right materials, proper prep, and careful application. But the results are obviously worth the effort. So we want to know – have you wrapped your Lexus? If so, head over here and share your pics and experiences with it. Whether you did it yourself or paid someone else!
