Drift Spec 1UZ-Swap Lexus IS 200 Takes On Mondello Race Track
Drift Games’ Dave Egan goes drifting in his 250hp 1UZ-swap Lexus IS 200 around Ireland’s Mondello track.
It’s no secret that the Japanese import community has a soft spot for drifting in motorsports. In one of its recent videos, the YouTube channel Drift Games takes us across the pond to the Mondello race track in Ireland. Dave Egan from Drift Games joins us and offers an in-depth look at a drift-ready 1UZ-swap Lexus IS 200.
Under the hood of this race car, we find a Toyota 1UZ-FE powerplant. The 4-liter V8 motor first debuted in the first-gen LS 400 in 1989. The engine in Dave’s car was sourced from a Toyota Celsior. This particular motor produces around 250 HP of power. Furthermore, the vehicle also runs an aftermarket Link G4 ECU. Takata racing harnesses to ensure that you sit securely inside the bucket seats of the IS 200 while drifting around corners.
In the video, Dave shares his thoughts on his 1UZ IS 200. “This is such simple fun. I’ve forgotten that drifting should be such simple fun,” shares Dave. He further adds, “CarCar has a bit of power, not a lot of power. I’m going to put a lot more momentum into the corner. It’s just something to get used to, I think.”
The 1UZ-swap Lexus IS 200 flaunts a beautiful tiffany blue paint job. The color draws its inspiration from the 2022 Petronas livery color (00A19C) of the Mercedes F1 racing team.
The bodywork of the drift car flaunts a Minty Fresh Gundam Aero widebody kit. This vibrant Lexus IS 200 rides on 5-spoke Image wheels responsible for the car’s aggressive stance. A prominent spoiler dominates the rear end of the 1UZ IS 200 and grabs your attention with its sharp design. The spoiler also sits atop a turn-down exhaust.
With Minty Fresh Moose Knuckles at the front, Dave can also adjust the radius arms of the IS 200. Cinematic shots of the IS 200 greet us as the car gloriously drifts around the corners of Mondello race track. Dave makes it look easy to drift around in his 1UZ IS 200. Overall the video makes for an exciting watch.
