Driving the Ultra Rare Fresh Green LFA!
Shmee150 explains why he regrets not investing in a Lexus LFA as he drives a Fresh Green example on the freeways of Florida.
After almost a decade since its discontinuation, the LFA is still one of the most popular Lexus models in the world. Even our favorite British car vlogger and YouTuber Tim Burton, aka Shmee150, admits that the Lexus LFA is one of his dream cars. Burton reveals why he decided not to buy a Lexus LFA while driving a gorgeous Fresh Green example of the Japanese supercar in his recent video.
Straight into the video, Burton highlights the reason behind his somewhat controversial decision. As we all know, the pre-owned car market is kind of on frits right now, with the prices of used cars skyrocketing. The same goes for rare supercars, and the Lexus LFA qualifies. Toyota’s luxury sub-brand only built 500 examples of the V10 supercar, and there has been a significant bump in the prices of LFAs in the last couple of years.
Only recently, A 2012 Lexus LFA with a Whitest White paint job sold for $808,000 at RM Sotheby’s Phoenix, Arizona sale. Burton also shared his thoughts on the rising prices of Lexus LFA. “I’m not gonna lie, that is fairly painful because it means if I ever do want to try and reach into one, it’s going to be an even bigger step to get there,” admits Burton.
Stepping inside the cabin, Shmee150 quickly points out that the interior of the LFA does reveal the supercar’s age with its dated tech.
It’s worth noting that the LFA was one of the most futuristic offerings in its segment in its prime. Nevertheless, the video also shows us what’s it like to be behind the wheel of this automotive engineering masterpiece. Furthermore, the 4.8-liter Even-Firing V10 more than makes up for the interior.
The powerplant makes an incredible racket that Yamaha engineered and made its way inside the cabin. The Lexus LFA famously has a digital speedometer necessary to keep up with the fast-revving motor. As a result, you don’t have to go fast to relish the LFA’s intoxicating exhaust note, which Burton demonstrates as he downshifts on the freeways of Florida.
Nevertheless, at the end of the video, I do find myself agreeing with Burton’s take on the LFA. “A car that is barely or probably never going to be repeated there might be a future LFA, there are always rumors and whispers of something, but it won’t be exactly this, and if there is, it’ll be like the Ford GT you know. Something that comes along and is so different to this when it does arrive,” said Burton.
