First Customized Lexus LC 500 Makes Grand Entrance at SEMA

Just because you can’t get an LC 500 yet, that doesn’t mean the aftermarket for the new Lexus 2 + 2 halo car doesn’t exist.

As you aftermarket mavens are all well aware, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, better known as SEMA, is having their annual convention in Las Vegas, as we speak. And apparently, even though the LC 500 won’t be released until the spring of 2017, Lexus didn’t want the LC 500 to be left out of all the SEMA customizing fun.

Currently on display is this racing-inspired LC coupe created by Gordon Ting/Beyond Marketing. According to the Lexus press release, here’s what we’re dealing with here:

The world’s first customized LC 500 features aerodynamic body work, upgraded suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, and new interior executed by Evasive Motorsports and an engine build imagined by Hard Media, Inc. and D SPORT Magazine, turning the Lexus 5.0-L V8 engine, which is also shared with RC F and GS F, into a 5.6-L with 525 horsepower.

That’s just over 50 horsepower faster than the production version is likely to get. And keep in mind, the team started building this thing more than a year ago, beginning with an early developmental LC 500 prototype. And they did so without the aid of any accessory or aftermarket help.

Since, at root, SEMA is really about selling, this specialty SEMA LC has helped drive the development of the first available body kits, performance suspensions, and brake kits for the car. They should be on the market this spring, along with the LC.
