LC 500 Wows Critics as ‘Seductive’ & ‘Slick’
Forbes Drives LC 500, Attracts Large Crowds, Generally Has a Good Time
Even if you’ve not yet seen an LC 500 in person, let alone driven one, one thing is certain: Lexus’ new halo car is a real looker. Millions have already ogled over the sporty coupe on fine sites such as this one. Others were lucky enough to catch it at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. But Forbes got to drive one around Hawaii, a place just as beautiful as the car itself.

And as they quickly found out, this isn’t a car for the shy. Cruising around the Big Island, Forbes scribe Jaclyn Trop quickly discovered the LC 500’s most prominent feature — its stunning looks — draws huge crowds. As Lexus’ Chief Designer Tadao Mori told Trop, this is a much different animal than the LFA. “We didn’t want to make just a race car,” says Mori. “The LC 500 is more ballerina than body builder,” he adds, it’s a grand touring coupe that blends “seduction and technology.”
Translation? The LC 500 is fun to drive, even if you’re just crawling along on slow Hawaiian roads behind a bunch of tourists. It’s also quite literally the future of Lexus as a brand — an exciting, technologically-advanced, distinctively-styled future. Or as Manager of Product Marketing Brian Bolain puts it: “This is the lens through which we’d like everyone to see the future of Lexus.”
