Heartrending Tribute to the LFA a Must-Watch Experience!

Lexus LFA

Starring the 10th LFA ever built, 20 minutes isn’t enough to take in all the ultimate Lexus offers. It’s still a must-watch, though.

The LFA. The ultimate Lexus. A machine so far above all else, not even Nagoya’s latest and greatest can touch its halo now, nearly a decade after the last LFA left the building. And it’s a ride so rare, seeing one on the street, highway, or the occasional auction block is a dream in of itself for many fans.

Even then, that’s nothing compared to driving an LFA, experiencing the masterpiece as it was meant to be experienced. Two lucky men, Thomas Holland and James Engelsman of Throttle House, received an invitation to such an opportunity recently. All they had to do was board a flight to Vancouver. Though their video is only 20 minutes long, it’s still a must-watch. Here’s why you need to hit that Like button on this one.

“The Lexus LFA. A car that the world has decided now costs more than double what it did when it first came out,” said Holland. “Why? We’ll get to that. For now, we’ll just say that when Drive Motorsports in Vancouver said they wanted to toss us the keys to one of the most legendary cars of all time, we were on a plane in an instant.”

Immediately upon jumping into the true start of the video, the glorious howl of the LFA’s V10 flows into your ears, followed by the sight of the car itself, the 10th LFA ever made, turning a dreary, wet autumn day on the track into the dream of dreams for any Lexus fan. Even the fallen leaves on the track get caught up (literally) in the majestic scenery framing the white stallion.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be driving this car right now,” said Engelsman as the V10 spoke over him. “The amount of engineering it took to get the car to sound like deserves so much respect. They manufactured it and worked to make it scream the way you’re hearing it right now. The engine itself is art. It revs so quickly, the throttle response is instant. It’s light, and it just revs to 9,000 rpm.”

The LFA’s V10 not only sounds good climbing up the gears, but downshifting, too. The blips with each downshift in Sport mode alone send both men into heaven, as they will the viewer. Even the clicks the paddles make are a most-wonderful sound. And though the hosts go into the looks and the interior – which are as important to the LFA as a whole – it’s far better to see and hear this Japanese haiku in motion.

“You have to be in here to truly believe what it sounds like,” Holland says. “This car is so much more raw than I thought it was gonna be. It’s just like a tactile connection to everything. These paddles make this “cl-clink.” The steering, even though it’s electric, gives a really communicative feedback […] This is a serious car.”

Watching Holland and Engelsman have their minds blown by the LFA, you can’t help but feel the way they feel. The sound, the way it slides around the turns on its new Michelins, the music cues. If you’re not shedding a tear or two by the end, you need to go to the hospital. Or, you can just watch this over and over again until you, too, experience the joy that only the LFA provides.
