Heavy Hillclimbing Action in a Lexus GS F

It would appear that Lexus will give away GS F press cars to pretty much anyone, as David Finlay’s recent RoofSideUp column clearly shows.

Not that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy Finlay’s account of his GS F hillclimb at Prescott in the “roaring, sliding Lexus GS F,” but he does seem like a bit of hooligan. Or perhaps he was joking about coming up with the idea of a multi-course hillclimb challenge while on a coke bender. And maybe he was exaggerating about how little sleep he’d gotten before picking up the Lexus.

Lifestyle choices aside, Finlay obviously knows how to drive, as you can see in the videos below. Have a look as Finlay puts that GS F through the paces while taking on the twisty incline at Prescott.

But while the video is entertaining, it’s Finlay’s unique perspective on driving the 2016 GS F which is really what’s most interesting here. It’s not everyday you get the hillclimbing perspective from a guy who drives multiple cars on multiple hillclimbs, which is the point of RoofSideUp‘s Multi-Car Hillclimb Challenge. So technically, Lexus isn’t the only company who contributes to Finlay’s questionable automotive lifestyle.

Ultimately, Finlay had trouble taming the heavy beast. Between confusing the Active Sound Control with something that might actually help his time, and trying to move the car without traction control, Finlay struggles to find his way up the hill in electrifying time. But he does have “enormous fun” trying.
