Here Are All of the Changes Coming to the Lexus Lineup Over the Next Decade

2023 Lexus RX

There are still some unknowns as the luxury brand moves to an all-electric future, but big changes are coming for the Lexus lineup.

Big things are coming for the Lexus lineup over the coming years, chiefly because it plans to offer an all-electric version of every model it sells by 2030 before going totally EV by 2035. That sort of monumental shift requires quite a bit of shuffling in terms of both short- and long-term plans, so there are still a lot of question marks hanging over the next decade or so.

That much is clear after perusing the latest future product roadmap from AutoForecast Solutions, which gives us a glimpse at the future of the Lexus lineup – albeit, in this case, a limited one. There are a lot of unknowns at the moment, including when the luxury brand will stop making certain ICE models, as well as when their EV replacements will debut. In the meantime, the forecasting company has provided us with timelines for a few Lexus models, giving us an idea of what to expect.

2022 Lexus ES Rear

Lexus ES

The current, seventh-generation Lexus ES debuted for the 2019 model year, but as most are well aware, sedans aren’t exactly the hot ticket they used to be – even among luxury shoppers. As such, it doesn’t seem as if the ES will be getting any sort of redesign or replacement when production of the current model is scheduled to end on 8/30/2024 at the automaker’s Georgetown assembly plant, but we can’t completely rule that out at the moment, either.

Lexus TX

The forthcoming three-row crossover known as the Lexus TX has been a subject of the rumor mill for years now, and is slated to replace the last-gen RX L – an extended version of the regular RX. It will be larger than that model as well, which was essentially just created to satisfy U.S.-based Lexus dealers clamoring for a three-row crossover in a market hungry for them. Regardless, now we know that production of the all-new TX is slated to begin at the Princeton West plant on 9/15/2023, running through 9/28/2029. Interestingly, a next-gen model has already been planned as well, with production running 10/1/2029 through 9/28/2035.

The long-running RX crossover just received a much-needed redesign for the 2022 model year as it enters its fifth generation. This new model is slated to be produced in Cambridge, Canada through 7/28/2028, while a next-gen model is expected to be built from 8/1/2028 through 7/28/2034. It’s a safe bet that an all-electric model will replace it after that point, given Lexus’ current timeline.

Lexus NX

Like the RX, the NX received some updates for 2022, though the current-gen version of the crossover is set to be produced at Cambridge through 4/30/2027. Meanwhile, the next-gen model is slated to enter production at the Toyota’s Canadian plant on 5/3/2027 and continue to be built there until 4/30/2032.
