How-To Tuesday: Change Your Own Oil, It’s Time

change lexus oil

There are two types of people in this world: those who change their own oil, and those who don’t. If you want to be a real car guy (or gal), it’s darn near a rite of passage. And who doesn’t want to be a real car guy?

Well, if you’ve just been pretending for a while, now, thanks to today’s How-To Tuesday article, you too can officially join such esteemed, greasy, and enthusiastic company.

As always, our How-To Tuesday article comes to us directly from the How-Tos section of Club Lexus, which is packed full of helpful DIY projects. This particular article is titled, “Lexus ES, RX: How to Change Your Oil,” and it applies specifically to those two models between 2005 and 2014. But there’s plenty of information that applies to oil changes in general, as well.

While a lot of DIY projects are great ways to save money, that isn’t exactly the motivation here, as most oil changes these days aren’t going to break the bank. But there is a certain satisfaction that comes with learning how to the project yourself. It’s the first step in really understanding what goes on underneath all those pretty Lexus lines.

Since no real special skills or tools are necessary, and since it shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes, the task at hand is a relatively basic one. Still, it’s not something to be taken lightly. That’s why this How-To article is so great. It takes you through the project step by step, explaining every step thoroughly along the way. There’s even a handy-dandy video at the end.

So what are you waiting for? Go outside, change your oil, and officially join the car guy club, once and for all.
