How-To Tuesday: Suspension Mods for Your Lexus IS/GS
If you’re new to the aftermarket, suspension modifications are a great place to start, as they can enhance not only your Lexus’s style, but also its performance.
Today’s How-To Tuesday article gives you the skinny on all sorts of cool suspension mods, to make your Lexus’s handling all the better, and therefore all the more fun. While the article deals specifically with IS and GS models between 2005-2013, even if you don’t own one of those models, it’s still a good place to gather some ideas and know-how. With so many options out there, it’s good to have some direction.
A strut tower brace is a good mod to start out with, as it’s relatively easy, and not too expensive, especially considering the costs you’ll save by doing it yourself. It’s basically just a metal bar that goes over the engine, stretching from one strut tower to the other. It may seem simple enough, but the strut tower brace increases the structural rigidity of your ride, which makes for a tighter, more responsive drive.
Another popular mod for your Lexus suspension are coil-overs, which not only increase the handling, but also lower your ride at the same time. Or how about an anti-sway bar, which bolts into the suspension and prevents your Lexus from swaying or rolling while cornering. Or if you’re really feeling like a challenge, the article even details an advanced air suspension mod.
All of these mods are covered in detail in this week’s How-To Tuesday article. So head on over and get your DIY on!
