There’s a Right Way and a Wrong Way to Clean Your Windshield.

This may seem like the easiest How-To Tuesday assignment you’ve ever had, but I’m guessing there’s a few of you out there who have never learned the proper way to clean your Lexus’s windshield. Well, thanks to today’s How-To Tuesday article (and the corresponding video below), that’s all about to change.

Your original suppositions are indeed correct, however, as this is a very easy DIY. But there are actually a few steps, beyond the obvious one of going to the gas station and squeegeeing till your heart and glass are content. But you’ll be rewarded for your 10 minutes of effort, as you’ll save upwards of $15 bucks if you do it yourself. And hopefully you’ll save your windshield from visibility-hampering micro scratches too.

As far as materials go, you’ll need some microfiber towels, Rain X, Windex, and detailer’s clay. Then it’s just a matter of washing the windshield thoroughly with the Windex (or another dedicated window cleaner) and a microfiber towel. If you can’t get some of the finicky bits, don’t worry, as that’s what the detailer’s clay is for. Or if it’s a really pesky spot, you can also use a razor blade. Then you dry the windshield and a apply the Rain X, or another protectant. It’s all laid out in thorough detail in the article.

You could take the easy way out on this one, and just rely on the squeegee at the gas station, I suppose. But you may not get all the dirt and soil that causes those annoying, glare-causing micro scratches. So do yourself a favor and check out today’s How-To article, and you’re guaranteed to treat your windshield right.
