Kyle Busch to Race RC F GT3 in the Rolex 24 at Daytona
Kyle Busch is the winningest Toyota driver in history for the NASCAR cup series.
Kyle Busch is slated to drive for AIM VASSER SULLIVAN in the upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona. Rolex 24 at Daytona is an annual test of racing endurance at America’s most famous track. The announcement came at the annual ‘Motorsports Day’ for Toyota and Lexus team members. AIM VASSER SULLIVAN (AVS) and Toyota are excited to work with a world-class racer such as Busch.
“We’re thrilled to have a racer of Kyle’s caliber join AIM VASSER SULLIVAN to open our 2020 season at the Rolex 24 at Daytona,” said Jimmy Vasser, co-owner of AIM VASSER SULLIVAN. “Kyle Busch has proven he can compete and win in many forms of motorsports and we look forward to having him drive the Lexus RC F GT3 at Daytona.”
“Kyle has been a fixture in our Toyota family for over a decade… He has accomplished so many firsts for Toyota throughout his tenure. And, we couldn’t be happier to have him join AIM VASSER SULLIVAN and drive the Lexus RC F GT3 in a world-class event like the Rolex 24 at Daytona,” said Lisa Materazzo, vice president marketing, Lexus Division.
Busch will make his debut for both Rolex 24 and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in this event. Expect to see him in one of two team AVS Lexus RC F GT3 race cars in the GTD class.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Lexus Motorsports, AIM VASSER SULLIVAN and Toyota for this opportunity,” said Busch. “To have the chance to run in such an iconic race as the Rolex 24 is certainly something I’ve thought about and wanted to do.”
Preceding his IMSA debut Busch will compete in the 2020 Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona scheduled for January 3-5, 2020.
Busch and Toyota: A winning pair
Busch has accomplished much with team Toyota over the course of his NASCAR career. With 207 career wins in the Cup, Xfinity, and Gander Outdoors Truck Series, (187 of those with Toyota) Busch is a consistent threat to win. Currently, Busch owns the NASCAR record for winningest driver in both the Xfinity (96) and Gander Outdoors Truck Series (56). Without a doubt, Busch’s greatest NASCAR achievement, however, was his cup series championship in 2015. This year, Busch hopes to win his second championship after reaching the ‘Championship 4’ for his fourth consecutive year.
“My partnership with Toyota and the history we’ve had together has been incredible. I would love to continue that history and maybe get my own Daytona Rolex to add to my trophy collection,” says Busch.
