LC 500 Super GT500 Racer Looks Faster Than Greased Lightning
Remember when we first saw the Lexus LC 500 at the 2016 NAIAS in Detroit? Remember how blazing fast that thing looked? Well, multiply that by greased lightning, and you’ve got the LC 500 Super GT race car.
Okay, so I don’t really know what that means either, but can we just agree that this thing looks wicked fast? I mean, come on, look at that wing? And those side exit-exhausts!
GT500 class racers in Japan will likely be thinking as much while lining up opposite this baby for the 2017 season. That’s when Toyota and Gazoo Racing plan on replacing the current RC F racer with this Lexus LC 500 Super GT500.
Worry not RC F fans, as the barely one-year-old race car will continue to compete here in the States in US GT3. But you can certainly understand why Toyota would want to feature the LC 500 in Japan, considering how important the model is for Lexus.
Though the LC 500 race car may look the part of rocket ship, because GT500 cars all use 2.0-liter turbocharged four-bangers, this baby will pack a smaller punch than the production models. When the LC 500 finally becomes available, it will sport a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, while the LC 500h will offer a 3.5-liter V6 hybrid.
