Lexus Canada Provides Boredom-busters for Lexus Enthusiasts

Inspired by Lexus’ Takumi Masters, Lexus Canada creates new animated video on how to create origami cat.

What does the Japanese art of paper folding have to do with building luxury automobiles? At Lexus, a lot!

To explain – and to give those staying at home as part of the current social distancing regimen something fun to do – Lexus Canada has created an animated video that demonstrates how to create an origami cat.

“We call them Takumi Cats, because they’re used to test the dexterity of our Lexus Takumi Masters – the artisans who are trusted with the most critical processes when we build a Lexus vehicle,” says Melanie Testani, Brand Manager, Lexus Canada. “We thought Canadians looking to learn a new skill while at home might enjoy testing their dexterity in the same way as our most accomplished craftspeople.”

A Lexus Takumi craftsperson must learn to fold an origami cat, but the twist is that the folding must be done single-handedly with their non-dominant hand in under 90 seconds.
