Lexus Confirms First-Ever TX Debuting on June 8 (and We’ll Be There)
ClubLexus is heading to Texas on June 8 to see the TX debut in person and share all of our first-look hands-on impressions.
Toyota and Lexus are having an extremely busy spring season. Last week, journalists and influencers flew to Hawaii for the debut of the all-new 2024 Tacoma as well as to drive the new Toyota Grand Highlander. (The media embargo for those reviews lifts next week on May 30.) And today Lexus USA confirmed that the previously teased first-ever Lexus TX will officially debut at 8pm (Eastern) on June 8. We’re guessing that the all-new Lexus GX will also debut at the same event, but there’s no word just yet.
New Teaser Images — First Reactions
Along with confirming the TX debut date and time, Lexus released two new TX teaser images. The first reveals the three-row interior seat layout. Interestingly, where the Grand Highlander is a seven or eight-passenger vehicle, the pictured TX is, instead, a six-passenger vehicle. Mechanically, the seats appear similar to the Highlander seating, while we’ll presumably see materials like NuLuxe in the Lexus. (And possibly even real leather like the Lexus RX if a Luxury model becomes available.)
Also, the front seats appear to be well bolstered, but no sign of full-on F Sport seats just yet. Also teased today is the TX’s passenger side door panel. One can clearly see the Mark Levinson branded speaker cover, indicating that we’ll see an optional premium audio system for the vehicle. Lexus also carries over its lovely e-Latch electronic door handles. There’s also just a glimpse of the optional 14″ Lexus Interface infotainment screen. And the design is similar to the RX in terms of the double dash or floating dash lines carrying over into the door. But the speaker layout, and the way it flows down to the armrest, is quite different.
Based on the Toyota Grand Highlander, expect the TX to offer a variety of familiar powertrains and trim levels. We expect a TX 350 with the 2.4L turbo. A 500h (that adds a Direct4 rear e-axle like the RX 500h). And possibly even a 550h+ plug-in hybrid model. Interestingly, while the Grand Highlander offers a Hybrid variant with the same powertrain as the RX 350h, that might not be the case with the TX. But at this point, we’re mostly speculating so stay tuned.
ClubLexus is heading to Texas next month to attend the reveal and we’ll make sure to capture as much hands-on first-look content as we can. (Although driving impressions will likely come later in the year.)
