Lexus Files Trademark for NX 300, V6 Option Likely
With the NX selling so well, it only makes sense that Lexus is adding another engine option. And that’s certainly what we’re led to believe by Toyota’s latest patent filing.
On March 25, Toyota filed trademark papers with the United States Patent and Trademark office for the model name NX 300.
MotorAuthority suggests that the NX 300 would situate between the NX 200t and the NX 300h in the NX model range. So its base price would likely fall between the starting prices of the 200t and the 300h — $35,405 and $40,645, respectively.
Should we see an NX 300 anytime soon, it’ll likely be powered by the IS 300 sedan’s 3.5-liter V-6, which sports 255 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, as such. Currently, the NX 200t offers a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo getting 235 horsie, and the NX 300h pumps out 194 hp from its 2.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid setup.
The NX has been a pivotal seller for Lexus, and has been a big reason behind the marque’s recent sales dominance. So with so many people clamoring for the model, why not give them more options?
