The Funny Side of the LC 500
Clever, Witty and Spot-On, The Drive Posts the Most Entertaining Review of the Lexus LC 500 Yet
We just discovered our new favorite Lexus LC 500 review. Lawrence Ulrich over at The Drive posted up a quick and pithy tale about the latest coupe from Lexus. It is filled with some the funniest lines we’ve seen yet. From his first observation that sales of big coupes are “about as popular as white loafers and men-only private clubs” to his brilliant description of a particular paint hue as a “gorgeous metallic brown known as ‘Autumn Shimmer,’ a name that would be perfect for a Tampa stripper,” we have been glued to his review.
When not bashing the competition from BMW and Mercedes, Ulrich expresses his love for the big V8 engine under the hood of the LC 500, the segment-first 10-speed auto, and the perfectly balanced suspension tuning. He also seems to be quite smitten with the exterior design of the Lexus LC 500 “with its nipped waist, flush-mounted door handles, and flanks wide enough to land an F-16.”

We don’t want to ruin the whole review, but every other line is worthy of quoting and sharing.
Like lots of reviews out there, there is some criticism against the hybrid model. It’s just fast enough. And there are some quibbles with the interior design and infotainment system. Beyond those few points of contention, it seems like Ulrich is borderline in love with the big luxury coupe.
This just serves to solidify the fact that we need to get behind the wheel of an LC. And soon.
When you’re done reading the review, hop into the Club Lexus Forum and post your favorite line. We’re particularly partial to the AARP remark. Check out The Drive‘s full review here.
